Two Challenges of Correct Validation in Pattern Recognition
Supervised pattern recognition is the process of mapping patterns to class labelsthat define their meaning. The core methods for pattern recognitionhave been developed by machine learning experts but due to their broadsuccess an increasing number of non ...

The Implicit Bias of Benign Overfitting
The phenomenon of benign overfitting, where a predictor perfectly fits noisy training data while attaining near-optimal expected loss, has received much attention in recent years, but still remains not fully understood beyond well-specified linear regression setups.

ABSTRACT Traditional wearable exoskeletons rely on rigid structures, which limit comfort, flexibility, and everyday usability. This work introduces the fundamental technologies to create the first soft, lightweight, intelligent textile‐based exoskeletons (Texoskeletons) built using 1D sensors and actuators.

A two‐phase workflow (OFAT screening followed by central composite design) maps how processing variables tune PFCE‐PLGA nanoparticle size, dispersity, surface charge, loading, and 19F‐MRI signal. In situ, time‐resolved synchrotron SAXS tracks albumin‐corona growth on intact dispersions and reveals PFCE‐dependent adsorption pathways.

Estimation of Stochastic Attribute-Value Grammars using an Informative Sample
We argue that some of the computational complexity associated with estimation of stochastic attribute-value grammars can be reduced by training upon an informative subset of the full training set.

This study presents a new biodegradable coating for titanium implants using a natural antimicrobial peptide, caerin 1.9. Applied via solvent casting, the coating offers sustained antibacterial protection and promotes healing. Tested on 3D‐printed porous titanium scaffolds, it effectively prevented infection—including against resistant bacteria—while ...
