Overhead line switching transients

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 2002
Summary: An efficient method is presented for the determination of switching transients in overhead lines. This new approach is based on the partial fraction expansion of the network functions in the Laplace \(s\)-domain. Newton's algorithm is used to locate the poles in the complex \(s\)-plane.

Vibration of Overhead Transmission Lines

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1932
STUDIES of vibration of overhead conductors have been prosecuted vigorously for several years in laboratory and fields. The importance of magnitude and distribution of stresses in multiplestrand conductors led to the development of a unique method for measuring stresses in vibrating conductors in the laboratory under conditions closely simulating field

Overhead line insulator

2021
This chapter describes different aspects of overhead insulators. Properties of line insulators have been described. Materials used for manufacturing overhead line (OHL) insulators have been presented. Different types of insulators used in OHL application have been discussed. Requirement of string has been mentioned.

Overhead lines for the Supergrid

Electronics and Power, 1973
The law of the land requires that the CEGB maintains an electricity supply suitable for Britain's needs. Transmission lines are a part of the supply network that people notice most, but few realise the time scale involved in planning and building a grid network.

Insulated Overhead Lines

IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1982
Special attention must always be given to the reliability of a distribution system, since its design must be developed regarding the loads to be carried, not only within its operacional flexibility, but also of its components, all associated to the installation, operation and maintenance costs.

The Resurrection of Overhead Lines

2018 IEEE International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application (ICHVE), 2018
The interest in high voltage overhead lines has increased in the last years considerably. On one hand they are badly needed to enable the Energiewende but on the other they often face strong opposition from the public. The paper will describe the different aspects and solutions of this issue.

Overhead line fittings

2003
According to [10.1, 10.2], overhead line fittings serve for the mechanical attachment, for the electric connection and for the protection of conductors and insulators. In relevant standards, fittings are frequently designated as accessories which may consist of elements or assemblies.
