Today, any nontrivial code base is typically hundreds of thousands of lines of code, and for large companies it often reaches into the megamillions.

This paper reports on some recent investigations aimed at separating and clarifying a number of concepts that frequently appear in object-based and object-oriented languages. Concepts considered include are over-loading, encapsulation, the message paradigm, and a limited form of inheritance.

It appears that although the normal human heart functions for at least 90-100 years, overload-induced hypertrophy shortens the heart's life span to about 5 years.
