A Critical Analysis and Validation of the Accuracy of Wave Overtopping Prediction Formulae for OWECs
The development of wave energy devices is growing in recent years. One type of device is the overtopping wave energy converter (OWEC), for which the knowledge of the wave overtopping rates is a basic and crucial aspect in their design. In particular, the

DESIGN OF AN OVERTOPPING BREAKWATER
The Maritime Services Board of New South Wales, Australia, is constructing a major new port facility on the northern foreshores of Botany Bay. A principal part of this project has been the construction of a large armoured revetment from the northern shores. The entrance to Botany Bay faces southeast and it is from this direction that a large proportion

Numerical Study of Impulsive Wave Overtopping at Rigid Hydraulic Structures Using Incompressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics Model [PDF]
Understanding the behavior of wave overtopping at hydraulic structures is critical for ensuring the stability and longevity of dams and coastal defenses.

Performance Evaluation of DualSPHysics and COMCOT Programs through Numerical Testing for Simulating Tsunami Propagation and Overtopping on Seawalls [PDF]
A tsunami is a destructive wave that can cause massive damage to coastal infrastructure. One of the disaster mitigation measures that can be chosen is the construction of coastal protection infrastructure, such as a seawall.

Wave Overtopping of Stepped Revetments [PDF]
Wave overtopping—i.e., excess of water over the crest of a coastal protection infrastructure due to wave run-up—of a smooth slope can be reduced by introducing slope roughness. A stepped revetment ideally constitutes a slope with uniform roughness and can reduce overtopping volumes of breaking waves up to 60% compared to a smooth slope.

Results from an extensive series of laboratory tests of irregular wave overtopping for a number of seawall and seawall/revetment configurations is presented. Data for 13 configurations has been collected and grouped into 7 data sets representing relatively similar geometrical characteristics.

Risk assessment of Vaniyar earth dam overtopping using system dynamics and effect of overtopping flood on the downstream lands of the dam. [PDF]
Objective: Dams play a key role in controlling floods and minimizing associated losses. They reduce downstream losses by lowering the flood peak and enable a safer flood stream.

Prediction model investigations of the reinforced fine-grained tailings dam overtopping failure
Overtopping dam break is a frequent accident in tailings reservoirs. However, little attention has been paid to the study of overtopping hydraulic erosion damage characteristics of tailings dam after adding reinforcement.
