SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION OF OVERTOPPING [PDF]

open access: yesCoastal Engineering Proceedings, 2012
The scope of this research is to find an empirical formula to describe the distribution of wave overtopping in the region behind the crest. A physical model was set up in which irregular waves were generated. In order to find a formula which adequately describes the test observations, the influence of several parameters has been analysed.

The Influence of Ramp Shape Parameters on Performance of Overtopping Breakwater for Energy Conversion

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2020
Overtopping breakwater for energy conversion (OBREC) is integration between breakwater and wave energy converter (WEC) that allows incoming waves to be stored in the reservoir.

Performance Evaluation of DualSPHysics and COMCOT Programs through Numerical Testing for Simulating Tsunami Propagation and Overtopping on Seawalls [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2023
A tsunami is a destructive wave that can cause massive damage to coastal infrastructure. One of the disaster mitigation measures that can be chosen is the construction of coastal protection infrastructure, such as a seawall.

Experimental measurement of focused wave group and solitary wave overtopping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Prediction of individual wave overtopping events is important in assessing danger to life and property, but data are sparse and hydrodynamic understanding is lacking.

Numerical Simulation of Wave Overtopping of an Ecologically Honeycomb-Type Revetment with Rigid Vegetation

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2022
Traditional concrete revetments can destroy the ecological environment and the water landscape. An increasing number of ecological revetment structures have been applied in coastal, lake, and river regulation projects.

SEAWALL OVERTOPPING MODEL

open access: yesCoastal Engineering Proceedings, 1988
Results from an extensive series of laboratory tests of irregular wave overtopping for a number of seawall and seawall/revetment configurations is presented. Data for 13 configurations has been collected and grouped into 7 data sets representing relatively similar geometrical characteristics.

WALOWA (wave loads on walls) : large-scale experiments in the delta flume [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Overtopping wave loads on vertical structures on top of a dike have been investigated in several small scale experiments in the past. A large-scale validation for a mild foreshore situation is still missing.

Wave Overtopping of Stepped Revetments [PDF]

open access: yesWater, 2019
Wave overtopping—i.e., excess of water over the crest of a coastal protection infrastructure due to wave run-up—of a smooth slope can be reduced by introducing slope roughness. A stepped revetment ideally constitutes a slope with uniform roughness and can reduce overtopping volumes of breaking waves up to 60% compared to a smooth slope.

Prediction model investigations of the reinforced fine-grained tailings dam overtopping failure

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
Overtopping dam break is a frequent accident in tailings reservoirs. However, little attention has been paid to the study of overtopping hydraulic erosion damage characteristics of tailings dam after adding reinforcement.

Risk assessment of Vaniyar earth dam overtopping using system dynamics and effect of overtopping flood on the downstream lands of the dam. [PDF]

open access: yesرویکردهای نوین در مهندسی آب و محیط زیست
Objective: Dams play a key role in controlling floods and minimizing associated losses. They reduce downstream losses by lowering the flood peak and enable a safer flood stream.
