In vivo assessment of closantel ovicidal activity in Fasciola hepatica eggs

Experimental Parasitology, 2016
Anthelmintic resistance in livestock parasites is currently a worldwide problem. Fasciola hepatica is a cosmopolitan parasite which causes considerable loss in sheep and cattle production systems all over the world. Chemotherapy is currently the main tool available for its control.

Comparative assessment of albendazole and triclabendazole ovicidal activity on Fasciola hepatica eggs

open access: yesVeterinary Parasitology, 2009
The benzimidazole compounds albendazole (ABZ) and triclabendazole (TCBZ) are both effective against Fasciola hepatica, although ABZ is only effective against adult flukes. Additionally, ABZ is a broad-spectrum nematodicidal compound with well-known ovicidal activity. However, no data on the ovicidal effect of TCBZ against F. hepatica eggs are available.

Ovicidal Activity of Fenoxycarb, 1987

Insecticide and Acaricide Tests, 1989
Abstract This test was designed to compare the ovicidal activity of Fenoxycarb with Galecron for control of Heliothis spp. eggs. Cotton was planted 28 Apr in plots 4 row wide, 40 ft long, and replicated 4 times. Plots were arranged in a biased randomized complete block with all Galecron plots on the downwind side of the field and ...

Resistance of nematode eggs to the ovicidal activity of benzimidazoles

Research in Veterinary Science, 1977
Eggs of benzimidazole-resistant Haemonchus contortus and Trichostrongylus colubriformis are resistant to the ovicidal activity of benzimidazoles. The possiblity is raised of using this as a simple screen for detection of resistance in nematodes of domesticated animals.
