Molecular confirmation of ovine herpesvirus 2-induced malignant catarrhal fever lesions in cattle from Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil

open access: yesPesquisa Veterinária Brasileira, 2012
Molecular findings that confirmed the participation of ovine herpesvirus 2 (OVH-2) in the lesions that were consistent with those observed in malignant catarrhal fever of cattle are described.

Neurological disorder in cattle associated with bovine herpesvirus 4

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, 2011
A nested PCR assay was used to diagnose bovine encephalitis through herpesviruses including bovine herpesvirus 5 (BHV-5), bovine herpesvirus 1 (BHV-1), Aujeszky's disease virus (SHV-1), and ovine herpesvirus 2 (OHV-2) in 14 fragments of central nervous ...

Bovine viral diarrhea virus: An updated American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine consensus statement with focus on virus biology, hosts, immunosuppression, and vaccination

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Volume 34, Issue 5, Page 1690-1706, September 2020., 2020
Abstract Control of bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) in cattle populations across most of the world has remained elusive in spite of advances in knowledge about this viral pathogen. A central feature of virus perseverance in cattle herds is the unique mechanism of persistent infection.

Discrimination between sheep-associated and wildebeest-associated malignant catarrhal fever virus by means of a single-tube duplex nested PCR

open access: yesOnderstepoort Journal of Veterinary Research, 2005
A single-tube duplex nested polymerase chain reaction (sdn-PCR) was developed for the detection of and discrimination between ovine herpesvirus-2 (OvHV-2) and alcelaphine herpesvirus-1 (AlHV-1).

The role of CAPG in molecular communication between the embryo and the uterine endometrium: Is its function conserved in species with different implantation strategies?

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 34, Issue 8, Page 11015-11029, August 2020., 2020
Abstract During the preimplantation period of pregnancy in eutherian mammals, transcriptional and proteomic changes in the uterine endometrium are required to facilitate receptivity to an implanting blastocyst. These changes are mediated, in part, by proteins produced by the developing conceptus (inner cell mass and extraembryonic membranes).

Ovine herpesvirus 2 lytic cycle replication and capsid production

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2002
Ovine herpesvirus 2 (OvHV-2) causes malignant catarrhal fever in cattle, pigs and deer. We have observed intact circular and linear OvHV-2 genomes in infected T cell lines derived from cows and rabbits. Bovine T cell lines were predominantly latently infected but rabbit T cell lines supported OvHV-2 productive cycle gene expression and virus capsids ...

Evaluation of glycoprotein Ov8 as a potential antigen for an OvHV-2-specific diagnostic assay. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Gammaherpesviruses in the genus Macavirus establish clinically unapparent persistent infections in reservoir species. Transmission of some of these viruses, including alcelaphine herpesvirus 1 (AlHV-1) and ovine herpesvirus 2 (OvHV-2), to clinically ...

Porcine Lymphotropic Herpesviruses (PLHVs) and Xenotranplantation

open access: yesViruses, 2021
Porcine lymphotropic herpesviruses -1, -2 and -3 (PLHV-1, PLHV-2 and PLHV-3) are gammaherpesviruses which are widespread in pigs. They are closely related to the Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) and Kaposi sarcoma herpesvirus, both of which cause severe diseases

Quantitative Fluorogenic PCR Assay for Measuring Ovine Herpesvirus 2 Replication in Sheep [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Diagnostic Laboratory Immunology, 2001
ABSTRACT A fluorogenic PCR specific for ovine herpesvirus 2 (OvHV-2) DNA was developed and compared to a previously established conventional seminested PCR. Testing of a total of 152 blood samples from both positive and negative animals revealed that the results of both assays corresponded to each other in 100% of the cases.
