Granulocytic Sarcoma of the Ovotestis: An Association of Myelodysplastic Syndrome and Hermaphroditism

Leukemia and Lymphoma, 2004
Granulocytic sarcomas are extramedullary tumors (EMD) of malignant myeloid precursor cells. EMD or granulocytic sarcoma of ovary is rare disease. A novel actin isoform is expressed in the ovotestis of Aplysia californica

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology - B Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 2005
The actin family encodes a large number of protein isoforms with quasi-identical primary structure but distinct function and localization. In oocytes, actin is known to play important roles in different processes such as those leading to fertilization or to mRNA localization during oogenesis.

Infertility in a ewe as a result of ovotestis

Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1992
A ewe with apparently normal estrous cycles was unable to conceive as a result of a single ovotestis. The ovotestis was diagnosed on the basis of results from laparoscopic examination, human chorionic gonadotropin stimulation, and histologic examination of the gonad.

TRUE HERMAPHRODITISM; ENDOCRINE STUDIES IN A CASE OF OVOTESTIS

Obstetrical & Gynecological Survey, 1947
THE occurrence of both male and female gonads in one person is of sufficient rarity to invite thorough study of such a case. Pseudohermaphroditism is not uncommon, but the occurrence in one person of one ovary and testis, or an ovotestis, proved histologically, has been reported only 40 times in the literature (1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7).

Why the Ovotestis ofHelix aspersais Innervated

Acta Biologica Hungarica, 2004
Although Schmalz described the innervation of the ovotestis in pulmonate snails as early as 1914, no functions have been attributed to it. In H. aspersa, the intestinal nerve branches profusely within the ovotestis and terminates in the walls of the acini and in the sheath surrounding the early portion of the hermaphroditic duct.
