Sex cord-stromal (granulosa cell) tumor in an ovotestis from a cow. [PDF]

open access: yesThe Canadian veterinary journal = La revue veterinaire canadienne
Development of gonadal tumors within an ovotestis is rare in mammals and this disturbance was not reported in cows. We report herein a gonadal stromal (granulosa cell) tumor in an ovotestis of a 15-month-old heifer from which the reproductive tract was obtained from a local slaughterhouse.

Isolation and characterization of the full-length cDNA encoding a member of a novel cytochrome p450 family (CYP320A1) from the tropical freshwater snail, Biomphalaria glabrata, intermediate host for Schistosoma mansoni [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Cytochrome p450s (cyp450s) are a family of structurally related proteins, with diverse functions, including steroid synthesis and breakdown of toxins. This paper reports the full-length sequence of a novel cyp450 gene, the first to be isolated from the ...

True hermaphroditism with bilateral ovotestis: a case report [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Andrology, 1989
SummaryA true hermaphrodite with a 46 XX/47 XXY karyotype, gynaecomastia, hypospadia and scrotal gonads was investigated. Gonadectomy performed at 14 years of age revealed bilateral ovotestes. The ovarian portion contained follicles of all developmental stages.

Ultrastructure of spermatogenesis and gonad somatic cells of a hermaphrodite gland of Eobania vermiculata (Gastropoda: Pulmonata) Müller, 1774 in Egypt [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bioscience and Applied Research, 2021
The spermatogenesis of adult snail Eobania vermiculata was investigated using transmission electron microscope (TEM) studies. The hermaphrodite gland (ovotestis) is composed of many lobes which have numerous acini. Each acinus was filled with many stages

Phylogenetic analysis of the Camaenidae (Mollusca: Stylommatophora) with special emphasis on the american taxa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The monophyly of the land snail family Camaenidae has been in doubt due to a disjunct bihemispheric distributional pattern and to the lack of morphological synapomorphies.

Experimental confirmation of protandric simultaneous hermaphroditism in a Caridean shrimp outside of the genus Lysmata [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Caridean shrimps display a variety of sexual systems including gonochorism and various forms of protandry but rarely simultaneous hermaphroditism. Protandric simultaneous hermaphroditism (PSH) has thus far only been demonstrated in the genus Lysmata. The

Comparative Evaluation of Sex Reversal Effects of Natural and Synthetic Estrogens in Sex Reversal Test Using F1 (AWE×WE) Japanese Quail Embryos

open access: yesThe Journal of Poultry Science, 2005
Sex reversal effects of 17 beta-estradiol (E2), diethylstilbestrol (DES) and ethynylestradiol (EE2) on male gonads in F1 (AWE×WE) Japanese quail (Corturnix japonica) embryos were comparatively evaluated in a newly developed in vivo screening model ...
