Repeated Sprint Training in Heat Improves Repeated Sprint Ability Under Temperate Conditions Similarly in Active Males and Females

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Sport Science, Volume 26, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to compare the adaptive responses to repeated sprint training in heat (RSHT) on exercise performance under temperate conditions between males and females. Active males and females completed 7 weeks of repeated sprint training twice a week in temperate (CON, 20°C, 55% relative humidity (RH), males: n = 12, females: n =

Microbial Contributions to Primate Reproduction

open access: yesEvolutionary Anthropology: Issues, News, and Reviews, Volume 35, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Reproduction is a complex process, and microbes play a far greater role than previously imagined. This review explores the ways that microbiomes influence the rich tapestry of reproductive processes and outcomes within the primate lineage, including pre‐copulatory and post‐copulatory mechanisms.

Projected Warming of the Southern Ocean Disrupts Embryonic Development and Hatch Timing in Antarctic Fish

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology Communications, Volume 1, Issue 1, March 2026.
Embryos are particularly sensitive to thermal challenge. Antarctic fish embryos raised at projected Southern Ocean temperatures hatch during the winter, have a high incidence of morphological abnormalities, have shorter body lengths, and express genes indicative of cellular stress.

CDC42‐Effector Proteins Regulate Higher Order Structure of Septins Required for CNS Myelin Integrity

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 3, March 2026.
CDC42‐effector proteins 1/2 are present in CNS myelin. They facilitate the higher order structure of myelin septin filaments. Their loss impairs septin‐dependent scaffolding of myelin. Myelin outfoldings do not cause secondary neuropathology per se. ABSTRACT The regular structure of CNS myelin requires specialized structural proteins, including septin ...
