On the Stress Function-Based OWA Determination Method With Optimization Criteria

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, Part B (Cybernetics), 2012
The ordered weighted averaging (OWA) determination method with stress function was proposed by Yager, and it makes the OWA operator elements scatter in the shape of the stress function. In this paper, we extend the OWA determination with the stress function method using an optimization model.

The Influence of Induced OWA Operators in a Clustering Method

2019
In this work we present an adaptation of the well known k-means algorithm for clustering. The proposal increases the flexibility of the algorithm to calculate the representative value of each cluster. To do so, we work with Induced Ordered Weighting Averaging operators.

The relationships between two kinds of OWA operator determination methods

2008 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems (IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence), 2008
The paper propose a general model that can combine the two kinds of OWA determination methods together: the optimization based methods and sample learning methods, that the relationship between these two kinds of problems is discussed. The analytical solution of this general model is proposed. Some properties of the problem are discussed.

Evaluating the risk of failure using the fuzzy OWA and DEMATEL method

Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, 2009
Most current risk assessment methods use the risk priority number (RPN) value to evaluate the risk of failure. However, traditional RPN methodology has been criticized to have several shortcomings. Therefore, an efficient, simplified algorithm to evaluate the orderings of risk for failure problems is proposed in this paper, which utilizes fuzzy ordered

A Method for Alternatives Ranking Using an OWA Operator Based on the Laplace Distribution

2020 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC), 2020
We consider the problem of representing a multiple-criteria (i.e., multiple heterogeneous measurements) object by a single value that we can use to compare and rank different objects. An intrinsic characteristic of the multiple-criteria is their different nature (e.g., high quality and low price), and thus, the ranking process is vastly dependent on ...

OWA-based linkage method in hierarchical clustering: Application on phylogenetic trees

Expert Systems with Applications, 2011
The linkage methods are mostly used in hierarchical clustering. In this paper, we integrate Ordered Weighted Averaging (OWA) operator with hierarchical clustering in order to find distances between clusters. In case of using OWA operator in order to find distance between clusters, OWA acts as a generalized case of single linkage, complete linkage, and ...

OWA filters: A robust filtering method and its application to color images

2009 IEEE Symposium on Computational Intelligence for Image Processing, 2009
Bilateral filtering provides a scheme for non-iterative edge-preserving smoothing, but the results could be strongly affected by the presence of outliers. In this paper we develop a robust bilateral filter for color images, and in order to achieve this we propose to improve the bilateral filtering technique [13] by using Ordered Weighted Averaging ...

Heterogeneous fusion with a combined evidential, probability and OWA methods for target classification

2010 13th International Conference on Information Fusion, 2010
Fusing multiple independent sensor measurements and human intelligence reports are essential to support critical decisions in a timely manner for today's situation awareness systems. The problem of great significance is associated with fusing Human Originated Information (HOI) with the information from other sources.
