TK2268 encodes the major aminotransferase involved in the conversion from oxaloacetic acid to aspartic acid in Thermococcus kodakarensis [PDF]

open access: diamondApplied and Environmental Microbiology
Amino acid metabolism in archaea in many cases differs from those reported in bacteria and eukaryotes. The hyperthermophilic archaeon Thermococcus kodakarensis possesses an incomplete tricarboxylic cycle, and the biosynthesis pathway of aspartate is ...

Oxaloacetic acid mediates ADP-dependent inhibition of mitochondrial complex II-driven respiration. [PDF]

open access: hybridJ Biol Chem, 2018
We recently reported a previously unrecognized mitochondrial respiratory phenomenon. When [ADP] was held constant ("clamped") at sequentially increasing concentrations in succinate-energized muscle mitochondria in the absence of rotenone (commonly used to block complex I), we observed a biphasic, increasing then decreasing, respiratory response.

Oxaloacetic Acid Supplementation as a Mimic of Calorie Restriction [PDF]

open access: bronzeOpen Longevity Science (Formerly 'The Open Aging Journal'), 2009
The reduction in dietary intake leads to changes in metabolism and gene expression that increase lifespan, re- duce the incidence of heart disease, kidney disease, Alzheimer's disease, type-2 diabetes and cancer. While all the mo- lecular pathways which result in extended lifespan as a result of calorie restriction are not fully understood, some of ...

Experimental and Theoretical Studies of Dissociative Electron Attachment to Metabolites Oxaloacetic and Citric Acids [PDF]

open access: goldInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2021
In this contribution the dissociative electron attachment to metabolites found in aerobic organisms, namely oxaloacetic and citric acids, was studied both experimentally by means of a crossed-beam setup and theoretically through density functional theory calculations.

Dynamic Changes in Metabolites and Transformation Pathways in Diqing Tibetan Pig Hams During Fermentation Determined by Widely Targeted Metabolomic Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesFoods
This study investigated the metabolite dynamic changes and transformation pathways in Diqing Tibetan pig (DTP) hams during fermentation (0, 30, 90, 180, 360, 540 d) by widely targeted metabolomics.

Differential metabolomic signatures in plasma and urine under mild and moderate hypothermia during cardiopulmonary bypass [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
While the organ-protective effects of hypothermia during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) are well known, the metabolomic impacts of different hypothermia levels remain unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of mild (32–35 °C, n = 15) and moderate
