Chromogenic Oxazines for Cyanide Detection
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2005[reaction: see text] We have designed two heterocyclic compounds for the colorimetric detection of cyanide. The skeleton of both molecules fuses a benzooxazine ring to an indoline fragment and can be assembled efficiently in three synthetic steps starting from commercial precursors.

Oxazine 170 Induces DNA:RNA:DNA Triplex Formation
Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2005The oxazine dye (Oxazine 170) was found to induce formation of a hybrid triplex structure, poly rA:(poly dT)(2), under solution conditions in which the triplex would not otherwise form. Formation of the hybrid triplex is driven by the structural selective binding of oxazine 170 to poly rA:(poly dT)(2).

Synthesis of Chiral Helical 1,3-Oxazines
Organic Letters, 2012A series of novel 1,3-oxazines were prepared to construct a helical framework. The 1,3-oxazine attached to the phenanthrene unit showed a small bite angle θ (∼12°), while the units attached to [4]helicene showed a larger θ (∼35°) and exhibited helical isomers at ambient conditions.
