Light scattering behavior of oxide nanoparticles
IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013, 2013Titanium dioxide (TiO2) has high optical refractive index and is transparent to visible light. No strong reflection is expected from a single layer of continuous TiO2 film. In this work, we report the unusually high reflection from a thick layer of TiO2 nanoparticles. TiO2 nanoparticles of different sizes (~ 21 nm and ~ 400 nm) were deposited on indium

Oxidation behavior of molybdenum nitride coatings
Surface and Coatings Technology, 2003Molybdenum nitride coatings were deposited onto H13 hot working tool steel and alumina substrates by arc PVD. The coatings were characterized with respect to their mechanical and structural properties. Oxidation behavior of the coatings on alumina substrates was investigated by TG/DTA.

Oxidation Behavior of Silicides
Diffusion Foundations, 2019The oxidation behavior of Mo, Nb, and Ti-silicides has received significant attention in past few decades for their potential to be used as high temperature structural materials. These Si-bearing intermetallic alloys have the ability to form an oxide scale containing SiO2, which is protective if formed as a continuous and impervious layer, so that the ...

Oxidation behavior of ytterbium silicide
Ceramics International, 2019Abstract Si-rich ytterbium silicide was fabricated by through an arc-melting technique for applying use as a bond coat material in an environmental barrier coating system. Evaluation of its potential was accomplished through oxidation tests in dry air and an inert atmosphere. The experimental results showed that the changes in weight and morphologies

Oxidative Damage to Behavior During Aging
Science, 1991The proposition that free radicals may be an important factor in aging remains to be rigorously proven; but the presence of increased amounts of oxidized proteins in aging biological systems supports the notion. The results of new experiments in Mongolian gerbils indicate that the accumulation of oxidatively damaged proteins during aging may be a cause

Oxide Behavior in Combustion Gases
CORROSION 1993, 1993Abstract We seek to develop a mechanistic understanding of degradation phenomena that relate to the industrial applications of oxide ceramics in various combustion technologies. This understanding can then be used to predict and demonstrate that specific ceramic compositions can successfully and economically resist degradation ...

The oxidation behavior and protection of niobium
JOM, 1990Despite years of effort, researchers have been unable to develop a high-temperature niobium-base alloy with the ability to form a protective oxide scale. Although some of the alloys tested have potentially useful properties, the alloying elements usually act to the detriment of at least one property.

Oxidation Behavior of Carbide Fuels
Nuclear Technology, 1990Oxidation studies have been carried out on 11.5 to 12.0 g/cm3 density uranium monocarbide microspheres and on mixed 11.96 to 12.04 g/cm3 density uranium-plutonium carbide pellets under various oxyg...

The oxidation behavior of intermetallic compounds
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 1992Abstract The selective oxidation of intermetallic compounds is described. It is shown that the fundamental concepts developed for the oxidation of conventional alloys ( e . g . iron- and nickel-base alloys) pertain also to the oxidation of intermetallics with slight modification.
