Crystal structures of two unusual, high oxidation state, 16-electron iridabenzenes

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2015
Treatment of carbonyl(1,2-diphenylpenta-1,3-dien-1-yl-5-ylidene)bis(triphenylphosphane)iridium, [IrCO(—C(Ph)=C(Ph)—CH=CH—CH=)(PPh3)2], with either bromine or iodine produced dibromido(1,2-diphenylpenta-1,3-dien-1-yl-5-ylidene)(triphenylphosphine)iridium ...

The effect of oxidation state on the viscosity of melts in the system Na2O-FeO-Fe2O3-SiO2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The viscosities of two melts in the system Na2O-FeO-Fe2O3-SiO2 have been measured as a function of oxidation state. The experiments were conducted by concentric-cylinder viscometry, on melts equilibrated with gas mixtures in a vertical tube, gas-mixing ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Zirconium and hafnium catalyzed C–C single bond hydroboration

open access: yesNature Communications
Selective cleavage and subsequent functionalization of C−C single bonds present a fundamental challenge in synthetic organic chemistry. Traditionally, the activation of C−C single bonds has been achieved using stoichiometric transition-metal complexes ...

Identification of the Formal +2 Oxidation State of Neptunium: Synthesis and Structural Characterization of {NpII[C5H3(SiMe3)2]3}1.

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2018
We report a new formal oxidation state for neptunium in a crystallographically characterizable molecular complex, namely Np2+ in [K(crypt)][NpIICp″3] [crypt = 2.2.2-cryptand, Cp″ = C5H3(SiMe3)2].

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Effect of Glycerol and Glucose on the Enhancement of Biomass, Lipid and Soluble Carbohydrate Production by Chlorella vulgaris in Mixotrophic Culture

open access: yesFood Technology and Biotechnology, 2013
Biodiesel-derived glycerol is a promising substrate for mixotrophic cultivation of oleaginous microalgae, which can also reduce the cost of microalgal biodiesel. The objective of this study is to investigate the potential of using glycerol and glucose as

Tuning of Ag Nanoparticle Properties in Cellulose Nanocrystals/Ag Nanoparticle Hybrid Suspensions by H2O2 Redox Post-Treatment: The Role of the H2O2/AgNP Ratio

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2020
Hybrid nanoparticles involving 10-nm silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) nucleated on unmodified rod-like cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) were prepared by chemical reduction.

Quantitative adsorbate structure determination under catalytic reaction conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Current methods allow quantitative local structure determination of adsorbate geometries on surfaces in ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) but are incompatible with the higher pressures required for a steady-state catalytic reactions. Here we show that photoelectron
