Plasma etching to enhance the surface insulating stability of alumina for fusion applications
A significant increase in the surface electrical conductivity of alumina, considered one of the most promising insulating materials for numerous applications in fusion devices, has been observed during ion bombardment in vacuum due to oxygen loss by ...

Impedance characterization of supported oxygen ion conducting electrolytes [PDF]
Abstract Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy is a widely used tool to study electrochemical reactions in batteries, fuel cells and other electrochemical energy conversion devices. However, conduction processes in the electrolyte of high temperature fuel or electrolysis cells (SOFC/SOEC) are inaccessible during operation, severely restricting the ...

Enhancement of the conductivity of Ba2In2O5 through phosphate doping [PDF]
In this paper, we demonstrate the successful incorporation of phosphate into Ba2In2O5, which leads to the conversion from an orthorhombic to a cubic unit cell.

Proton and Oxygen-Ion Conductivities of Hexagonal Perovskite Ba5In2Al2ZrO13
The hexagonal perovskite Ba5In2Al2ZrO13 and In3+-doped phase Ba5In2.1Al2Zr0.9O12.95 were prepared by the solid-state synthesis method. The introduction of indium in the Zr-sublattice was accompanied by an increase in the unit cell parameters: a = 5.967 Å, c = 24.006 Å vs. a = 5.970 Å, c = 24.011 Å for doped phase (space group of P63/mmc).

Effect of ion implantation doping on electrical properties of yttria-stabilized zirconia thin films [PDF]
The change in conductivity of Fe and Ti implanted rf-sputtered layers of yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) was studied as a function of the temperature (400–800°C) and oxygen partial pressure. In an oxidized state and in the temperature range of 400–600°C,

Ion and mixed conducting oxides as catalysts [PDF]
This paper gives a survey of the catalytic properties of solid oxides which display oxygen ion or mixed (i.e. ionic + electronic) conductivity. Particular consideration is given to the oxidation-reduction reactions of gas phase components, but attention ...

Controlling mixed conductivity in Na 1/2 Bi 1/2 TiO 3 using A-site non-stoichiometry and Nb-donor doping [PDF]
Precise control of electronic and/or ionic conductivity in electroceramics is crucial to achieve the desired functional properties as well as to improve manufacturing practices. We recently reported the conventional piezoelectric material Na1/2Bi1/2TiO3 (

Studies of the Adsorption of SO, H and O on a CrO Surface by an Electrical Conductivity Technique
Electrical conductivity measurements have been used to detect extremely small changes in the oxygen content of oxide semiconductors in contact with reducing or oxidizing gases. In continuation of previous studies, the oxygen loss of chromium oxide in H 2
