Effect of Oxygen Mole Fraction on Static Properties of Pressure-Sensitive Paint [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, Vol. 21, No. 4, 1062 (2021), 2020
The effects of oxygen mole fraction on the static properties of pressure-sensitive paint (PSP) were investigated. Sample coupon tests using a calibration chamber were conducted for polymer-based PSP (PHFIPM-PSP), polymer/ceramic PSP (PC-PSP), and anodized-aluminium PSP (AA-PSP).

Living with Oxygen [PDF]

open access: yesAccounts of Chemical Research, 2018
Work on the electronic structures of metal-oxo complexes began in Copenhagen over 50 years ago. This work led to the prediction that tetragonal multiply bonded transition metal-oxos would not be stable beyond the iron-ruthenium-osmium oxo wall in the periodic table and that triply bonded metal-oxos could not be protonated, even in the strongest ...

Reactive Oxygen and Sulfur Species: Partners in Crime

open access: yesOxygen, 2022
The emergence of complexity requires cooperation, yet selection typically favors defectors that do not cooperate. Such evolutionary conflict can be alleviated by a variety of mechanisms, allowing complexity to emerge.

Roles of Reactive Oxygen Species and Autophagy in the Pathogenesis of Cisplatin-Induced Acute Kidney Injury

open access: yesOxygen, 2022
Cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) is the main factor restraining the clinical application of cisplatin. The AKI is associated with high mortality and morbidity, but no effective pharmacological treatment is available at present.

Reactive Oxygen Species Signaling Pathways: Arbiters of Evolutionary Conflict?

open access: yesOxygen, 2022
In the history of life, cooperation between biological units has led to increased complexity, e.g., eukaryotic cells and multicellular organisms. Cooperation requires limiting the gains of “defectors” in favor of the cooperative higher-level unit.

Oxygen and Cation Ordered Perovskite, Ba2Y2Mn4O11 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A three-step route has been developed for the synthesis of a new oxygen-ordered double perovskite, BaYMn2O5.5 or Ba2Y2Mn4O11. (i) The A-site cation ordered perovskite, BaYMn2O5+d, is first synthesized at d ~ 0 by an oxygen-getter-controlled low-O2-pressure encapsulation technique utilizing FeO as the getter for excess oxygen.

Deciphering mechanisms of enhanced-retarded oxygen diffusion in doped Si [PDF]

open access: yesAppl. Phys. Lett. 103, 251909 (2013), 2013
In this letter, we study enhanced-retarded diffusion of oxygen in doped silicon by means of first principle calculations. We found that the migration of oxygen dimers can not be significantly affected by strain, doping type or rate. We attribute the enhanced oxygen diffusion in p-doped silicon to reduced monomer migration energy, and the retarded ...

Home Oxygen Therapy (HOT) in Stable Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD): Similarities, Differences and Doubts

open access: yesOxygen, 2022
This narrative paper reviews the current knowledge of Home Oxygen Therapy (HOT) in stable Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), two major causes of Long-Term Oxygen Therapy (LTOT) prescription.

Oxygen and nitrogen abundances in nearby galaxies. Correlations between oxygen abundance and macroscopic properties [PDF]

open access: yesAstron.Astrophys. 425 (2004) 849-869, 2004
We performed a compilation of more than 1000 published spectra of HII regions in spiral galaxies. The oxygen and nitrogen abundances in each HII region were recomputed in a homogeneous way, using the P-method. The radial distributions of oxygen and nitrogen abundances were derived.

Expression of Aquaporin-1 and Aquaporin-5 in a Rat Model of High-Altitude Pulmonary Edema and the Effect of Hyperbaric Oxygen Exposure

open access: yesDose-Response, 2020
Objective: To investigate the therapeutic roles of hyperbaric oxygen exposure on high-altitude pulmonary edema and to determine whether aquaporin-1 and aquaporin-5 were involved in the pathogenesis of HAPE in rats.
