Oxygen-Reduction-Triggered Cathodic Electrodeposition of Mn-Based Metal–Organic Framework Nanoflakes as Oxygen Evolution Electrocatalysts

open access: yes
Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) due to their advantages such as high-surface area and porosity.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Oxygen reduction on platinum

open access: yes, 2013
Proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells have the potential to provide a clean and convenient source of power for applications such as vehicle transport. At their heart lies a platinum catalyst which is used to reduce oxygen to water. Although platinum is expensive it is the best elemental catalyst for the reaction.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Synthesis and Characterization of Ni-Doped Iron Oxide/GO Nanoparticles by Co-Precipitation Method for Electrocatalytic Oxygen Reduction Reaction in Microbial Fuel Cells

open access: yesCeramics
Nickel-doped iron oxide/graphene oxide powders were synthesized by the co-precipitation method varying the Ni/Fe ratio, and the activity of the materials towards the oxygen reduction reaction in a microbial fuel cell (MFC) was studied.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Front Cover: Enhancing oxygen reduction reaction catalytic activity using a sub‐stoichiometric CaTiO3−δ additive (ChemElectroChem 24/2019)

open access: yes, 2019
The Front Cover shows a rotating disk electrode pinball where, thanks to the presence of the sub‐stoichiometric calcium titanate perovskite, the oxygen reduction reaction is facilitated to proceed via the four‐electron pathway.
