PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Electrochemical Characterization of New Silver Gas Diffusion Electrodes during Oxygen Reduction in Alkaline Solution

open access: yes, 2013
In order to analyze in detail the kinetics of the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and the influence of the porous electrode structure on the electrode performance in alkaline solution (10 M NaOH) at 80°C electrochemical impedance measurements (EIS) and ...

Oxygen-Resistant CO2 Reduction Enabled by Electrolysis of Liquid Feedstocks

open access: yes, 2023
Electrolytic CO2 reduction fails in the presence of O2. This failure occurs because the reduction of O2 is thermodynamically favored over the reduction of CO2. Consequently, O2 must be removed from the CO2 feed prior to entering an electrolyzer, which is

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Efficient Photocathode of an Ultrathin Organic p-n Bilayer Comprising p-Type Zinc Phthalocyanine and n-Type Fullerene for Hydrogen Peroxide Production

open access: yesPhyschem
Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a clean and environmentally friendly oxidant. At present, as an alternative to the conventional industrial procedure, namely, the anthraquinone method, a clean H2O2 production method is desired.

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

A primer on electrocatalysis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2005
A short review of the development and achievement of electrocatalysis in the last 50 years is given. The need for the knowledge of the reactionmechanism and position of the rate determining step for rational choice of catalyst is particularly stressed ...

Photocatalytic Reduction Synthesis of Ternary Ag Nanoparticles/Polyoxometalate/Graphene Nanohybrids and Its Activity in the Electrocatalysis of Oxygen Reduction

open access: yes, 2016
Ternary Ag nanoparticles (NPs)@polyoxometalate (POM)/reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanohybrids were prepared by a facile photoreduction method, using POM as the photocatalyst, reducing and bridging molecules.

Marine aerobic biofilm as biocathode catalyst [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Stainless steel electrodes were immersed in open seawater and polarized for some days at − 200 mV vs. Ag/AgCl. The current increase indicated the formation of biofilms that catalysed the electrochemical reduction of oxygen.
