Performance of silica-supported copper oxide sorbents for SOx/NOx-removal from flue gas II. Selective catalytic reduction of nitric oxide by ammonia [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
The selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of nitric oxide by ammonia was studied for silica-supported copper oxide particles to be used as a sorbent/catalyst in a continuous process for the simultaneous removal of SOx and NOx from flue gases.

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

Electrocatalytic Behavior of an Amide Functionalized Mn(II) Coordination Polymer on ORR, OER and HER

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
The new 3D coordination polymer (CP) [Mn(L)(HCOO)]n (Mn-CP) [L = 4-(pyridin-4-ylcarbamoyl)benzoate] was synthesised via a hydrothermal reaction using the pyridyl amide functionalized benzoic acid HL. It was characterized by elemental, FT-IR spectroscopy,

Electrochemical blackening of yttria-stabilized zirconia : morphological instability of the moving reaction front [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Electrochemical reduction was performed on both polycrystals of calcia-stabilized zirconia (CSY) and single crystals of yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) at 500°C. A glass-encapsulation was used to prevent access of molecular oxygen from the gas phase and

Pd–Pt Tesseracts for the Oxygen Reduction Reaction

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2021
Hollow frame structures are of special interest in the realm of catalysis since they hold only ridges and hollow interiors, enabling the accessibility of active sites to the most extent. Herein, we prepared Pd-Pt hollow frame structures composed of double-shell cubes linked by body diagonals as an efficient catalyst toward the oxygen reduction reaction

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

One-pot synthesis of lignin-based electrospun oxygen reduction reaction electrocatalysts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Owing to their adequate combination of high surface area, electrical conductivity and electrochemical resistance, carbon fibers has been used for a long time as a catalyst supports and gas diffusion layers in the electrodes of fuel cells.

Carbon nanotubes as a 1D template for the synthesis of air sensitive materials: about the confinement effect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Cobalt ferrite and cobalt iron nanowires with an average diameter of 50 nm and lengths up to several micrometers were synthesized inside multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) under mild reaction conditions, i.e.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
