Phenotypic plasticity in a novel set of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor‐adapted non‐small cell lung cancer cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Phenotypic plasticity in a newly established set of EGFR inhibitor‐adapted NSCLC cell lines during adaptation and in established cell lines. Here, we introduce novel sublines of the EGFR‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines HCC827 and HCC4006 adapted to the EGFR kinase inhibitors gefitinib (HCC827rGEFI2μm, HCC4006rGEFI1μm), erlotinib ...

Co‐overexpression of the caloric restriction‐induced mitochondrial factors PGC‐1α and MIPEP upregulates Phospho1 expression in adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caloric restriction that extends lifespan induces the expression of PGC‐1α and MIPEP in white adipose tissue. In this study, co‐overexpression of Pgc‐1α and Mipep upregulated the gene expression of PHOSPHO1. These findings provide new insights into mitochondria‐related mechanisms underlying the effects of caloric restriction in adipocytes.

HPDL Variant Type Correlates With Clinical Disease Onset and Severity

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Recently, a mitochondrial encephalopathy due to biallelic HPDL variants was described, associated with a broad range of clinical manifestations ranging from severe, infantile‐onset neurodegeneration to adolescence‐onset hereditary spastic paraplegia. HPDL converts 4‐hydroxyphenylpyruvate acid (4‐HPPA) into 4‐hydroxymandelate (4‐HMA),

Surgical treatment of urachal adenocarcinoma with lung metastasis: A case report and literature review

open access: yesThoracic Cancer
Arising from the urachal epithelial lining, the urachal carcinoma is a rare tumor, which accounts for 0.35%–0.7% of all bladder cancers. Urachal carcinoma has a higher predilection in men with median age around 50–60 years old.

Follow-up and nonpharmacological management of the idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis patient [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Respiratory Review, 2011
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic, progressive, fatal form of diffuse interstitial lung disease. Management of IPF requires an orderly approach, with regular evaluations and implementation of both pharmacological and nonpharmacological ...

CNS Mitochondria‐Derived Vesicle in Blood: Potential Biomarkers for Brain Mitochondria Dysfunction

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Mitochondrial dysfunction is a hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's (AD) and Parkinson's (PD). Our goal was to develop practical, noninvasive methods to assess mitochondrial status through the detection of mitochondria‐derived vesicles (MDVs).
