Oxygen therapy in surgery

Abstract The use of oxygen and especially a carbon dioxide-oxygen mixture (7 per cent carbon dioxide and 93 per cent oxygen) is not as widespread in surgery as it should be as a preventive and therapeutic aid for anoxia. Anoxia develops insidiously and the best treatment is prevention by the early use of inhalation oxygen.
