Reduced contribution of the ipsilateral primary motor cortex to force modulation with short-term motor learning in humans: An NIRS study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
How is muscle force modulated during hand exercise? Oxygenation in the contralateral primary motor cortex (M1) has been observed to vary considerably across trials of repetitive handgrip exercise.

Decoupling of Carrier Pathways in Au/Cu‐Zn3In2S6 Through Bulk Hole Trapping and Surface Hot Electron Accumulation Enhances Photocatalytic Hydrogen Peroxide Production

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We design and implement Au‐Cu co‐modified Zn3In2S6 catalyst with spatially decoupling charge carriers across bulk and surface sites, which effectively suppresses carrier recombination, drives surface hot electron accumulation and stabilizes intermediates for photocatalytic oxygen reduction. The optimized catalyst achieves an H2O2 evolution rate of 94.2

Preparation and Characterization of GdVO4:Tb,Eu Nanoparticles/ Carbon Dots Composites via Hydrothermal Deposition and Physical Mixing for Luminescent Nanothermometry

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This work presents the synthesis of GdVO4:Tb,Eu nanoparticles/Carbon Dots composites using biomass‐derived precursors. Spectroscopic characterization confirms composite formation and elucidates the energy transfer mechanisms behind their photoluminescence.

Deciphering the Interactions of Carbon Nanotubes and Super P with Silicon and Graphite Active Materials in Silicon‐Graphite Negative Electrode‐Based Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Although defect‐rich Multi‐walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNTs) are generally associated with reduced electronic conductivity, our findings uncover a different role: they act as interfacial mediators in Silicon (Si) negative electrode‐based lithium‐ion batteries. Their defect sites and surface functional groups reinforce particle contact, markedly boosting

Shaping Microbial Motion with Light: A Contactless Approach Using Diffusioosmotic Flow

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Light‐controlled, contactless manipulation of cyanobacteria using photoresponsive azobenzene surfactants. Reversible photo‐isomerization generates surface flow, enabling precise trapping, relocation, and directional control of single cells or ensembles with adjustable light intensity and wavelength for noninvasive, spatiotemporally resolved microbial ...
