Neuroprotective coordination of cell mitophagy by the ATPase Inhibitory Factor 1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The mitochondrial ATPase Inhibitory Factor 1 (hereafter referred to as IF1) blocks the reversal of the F1Fo-ATPsynthase to prevent detrimental consumption of cellular ATP and associated demise.

Biologically‐Inspired Melt Electrowriting for the Generation of Highly Biomimetic Functional Myocardium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, melt electrowriting is used to fabricate a 3D printed scaffold design that generates engineered cardiac tissues with in‐plane contraction, mimicking natural myocardium. It is shown that these tissues display advanced maturation and functionality.

Intravascular absorption syndrome : case report of a life-threatening complication during hysteroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A 40-year old, healthy woman underwent hysteroscopic endometrial ablation with a bipolar electrocautery using 0.9% saline as distension fluid. After 45 minutes of surgery, arterial oxygen saturation decreased and liquid was obstructing the laryngeal mask.

Oxygen Doping Enables Tailored Built‐In Electric Fields in FeOCl/g‐C3N4 Heterojunctions for Enhanced Peroxymonosulfate Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 22, May 29, 2025.
Oxygen‐doping modulated g‐C3N4 support enables a strong built‐in electric field (BIEF) in FeOCl‐OCN.This enhanced BIEF induces the rearrangement of Fe(II)/Fe(III) in FeOCl, which subtly improves intermediates adsorption and also reduces the energy barrier of *O production, thereby achieving efficient PMS activation with 1O2 and Fe(IV)= O as the primary

The oxygen tightrope [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Anaesthetists’ Society Journal, 1966
During anaesthesia and during the management of respiratory failure by intermittent positive pressure ventilation, incipient hypoxaemia is common owing to the frequent occurrence of an increased physiological shunt. This hypoxaemia may be offset by raising the inspired oxygen tension and by hyperventilation.

Noninvasive evaluation of renal tissue oxygenation with blood oxygen level-dependent magnetic resonance imaging early after transplantation has a limited predictive value for the delayed graft function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of renal oxygenation assessment using blood oxygen level-dependent (BOLD) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the early period after kidney transplantation and to estimate its prognostic ...

Oxygen Defect Engineering of Hexagonal Perovskite Oxides to Boost Catalytic Performance for Aerobic Oxidation of Sulfides to Sulfones

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ru‐substituted hexagonal perovskite SrMnO3, featuring face‐shared oxygen species, is designed as an effective heterogeneous catalyst for the aerobic oxidation of sulfides. The catalyst demonstrates high selectivity to sulfones (>99%) under mild reaction conditions (≥30 °C). Ru substitution promotes oxygen vacancy formation of face‐shared oxygen species

H2O2‐Generating Advanced Nanomaterials for Cancer Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
H2O2‐generating nanoplatforms can exploit tumor redox imbalance for O2 and toxic reactive oxygen species generation, leading to hypoxia reversal, and apoptosis of cancer cells, respectively. This review highlights the mechanisms of these nanoplatforms, including exogenous H₂O₂ delivery, endogenous amplification, and metal peroxides, which leads to ...
