Microbiological Transformation of Oxytetracycline
Nature, 1966THE uptake and alteration of oxytetracycline (OTC) has been demonstrated with the ascomycete Xylaria digitata1. So far as we can trace, no reports have been published concerning the fate of this drug in bacteria. Izaki and Arima2,3 have investigated the uptake and accumulation of OTC by Escherichia coli K12. They have reported that large amounts of the

Streptomyces Species producing Oxytetracycline
Nature, 1962SINCE the isolation of Streptomyces rimosus1, a number of other species have also been described which produce the antibiotic oxytetracycline. The status of some of these species has been questioned2,3, and comparative studies on induced mutants of S. rimosus4 suggest that other members of this group might be naturally occurring variants.
