Differential effects of p,p′-DDE on testis and liver mitochondria:Implications for reproductive toxicology [PDF]
The release of environmental contaminants can contribute to impaired male fertility. The bioenergetics of isolated liver mitochondria have been used as a toxicological indicator, an inexpensive first line model to screen possible effects of several substances.

Surface‐Anchored Microgel‐Based Films as Anti‐Icing Coatings
The microgel‐based anti‐icing coatings presented in this work reduce ice adhesion by up to 90% on various substrates. This effect can be attributed to the incorporated functional cationic moieties binding a lubricating layer of quasi‐liquid interfacial water.

Gassorption analysis of in‐plane functionalized carbons reveals small, uniform ultramicropore signatures as potential artefacts of specific adsorption of the probe gases. Low‐pressure Langmuir fitting links these features to distinct functionalities via adsorption energies, enabling straightforward quantification of otherwise inaccessible surface‐site ...

Pt Single‐Atom Catalysts on FTO for Optically Invisible pH‐Universal Hydrogen Evolution Electrodes
Comparison of the overpotential (η) at 10 mA cm−2 in acidic electrolyte of Pt SA on FTO (this work) and other literature. ABSTRACT Transparent hydrogen‐evolution electrodes are essential for photoelectrochemical and optoelectronic energy‐conversion devices, yet typically suffer from a trade‐off between catalytic activity and optical transmission. Here,

Still there: Persistent Organic Pollutants in fish from two Italian high-mountain lakes
Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) can accumulate in high-mountain lake fish due to long-range transport. The aim of this study was to determine the presence of 41 POPs included in the Stockholm Convention in muscle and livers of Salvelinus fontinalis ...
