Series active power filter implementation using P-Q theory
2012 International Conference on Informatics, Electronics & Vision (ICIEV), 2012This paper deals with the design and implementation of series active power filter for power quality improvement. The problem of harmonics due to non-linear loads can be reduced by series active power filter. P-Q theory is used as the control algorithm in the proposed series active power filter.

P-Q theory for shunt active filters using ramp comparator
2013 International Conference on Power, Energy and Control (ICPEC), 2013Here a P-Q algorithm for shunt active power filters under stiff and non stiff source is described. The conventional current reference algorithms suffer from the disadvantage that it is not possible for harmonic compensation when the supply is unbalanced.

Limitations of cross vector generalized p-q theory
2015 International School on Nonsinusoidal Currents and Compensation (ISNCC), 2015This paper investigates the limitations of Generalized Instantaneous Reactive Power p-q Theory introduced by Peng et al, which is referred to as the Cross Vector p-q Theory. The theory, which applies to four wire systems, is shown to contain mostly the same limitations as the original instantaneous reactive power theory, namely that the instantaneous ...

Comparisons Between the p--q and p--q--r Theories in Three-Phase Four-Wire Systems
IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2009This paper presents a comparative analysis between results from applications of the p-q and the p-q-r theories in shunt active power filters for three-phase four-wire systems, discussing aspects related to the influence of the system voltage in the control methods that calculate the compensating currents. It is shown that in some cases, a preprocessing

Modeling and control of hybrid power filter using p-q theory
2016 IEEE 1st International Conference on Power Electronics, Intelligent Control and Energy Systems (ICPEICES), 2016The paper presents design of hybrid active power filter (HAPF) in a three-phase three-wire power system. Design is implemented with instantaneous reactive power theory for control of HAPF in order to mitigate harmonics generated by both non-linear and unbalanced load at the point of common coupling (PCC). The p-q Theory enables the source current to be

p - q theory for active compensation applied to supergrids and microgrids
2012 Workshop on Engineering Applications, 2012With the increase of high non - linear loads and the inclusion of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) in the utility grid, power quality improvement has become a fundamental requirement in electrical systems, in order to minimize the harmonic distortion effects.

Single phase UPS with FACTS capabilities by using p-q Theory
IECON 2012 - 38th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2012This paper proposes the use of an UPQC topology in a high efficiency single phase 1.4 kVA UPS system with active filter capabilities throughout the parallel and series converter. With this topology it is possible to obtain high efficiency and combine the advantages of both on-line and line interactive UPS systems and at the same time improving the grid

Advanced Control of Cascaded Multilevel Drives Based on P-Q Theory
IEEE International Conference on Electric Machines and Drives, 2005., 2005In recent years, there has been significant development on the cascaded multilevel inverter wherein the series connection is accomplished by splitting the neutral point of the load and driving both ends with power converters. This splits the power between a "bulk" inverter supplying higher-voltage low-frequency power and a "conditioning" inverter ...

Power quality improvement based on p-q theory using photovoltaic arrays
2015 International Conference on Energy Systems and Applications, 2015This paper represents, a photovoltaic system connected to a three phase grid. The model comprises PV array, dc-dc boost converter and inverter. The novel control technique applied is based on p-q theory to trigger the inverter. Phase Locked Loop is used to synchronise the inverter output with grid. In this paper the control technique is proposed, which

Instantaneous power compensation in three-phase systems by using p-q-r theory
IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2002Three linearly independent instantaneous powers have been defined in the time domain in three-phase four-wire systems with the use of p-q-r theory. Any three-phase circuit can be transformed into three single-phase circuits by the p-q-r transformation Thus the instantaneous powers in any three-phase systems can be analysed as the same way of ...
