Modified p-y curves for monopile foundation with different length-to-diameter ratio

open access: yesBrodogradnja : An International Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering for Research and Development, 2023
The soil reaction of the monopile foundation subjected to lateral loading in offshore wind turbines is typically assessed relying on p-y curves advocated by API. However, this method is inadequate for gradually increasing monopile diameters and significantly underestimates the lateral soil confinement.

Shallow-layer p-y curves for single micropile in sands

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2018
Micropiles are increasingly used in seismic design or retrofitting for pile foundations. This study aims to investigate the validity of the widely used p-y relationships proposed by the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the ‘m method'; in the ...

Evaluation of sand p–y curves by predicting both monopile lateral response and OWT natural frequency

open access: yesStudia Geotechnica et Mechanica, 2022
Extending the use of the p–y curves included in the regulation codes API and DNV to design large-diameter monopiles supporting offshore wind turbines (OWTs) was unsuccessful as it resulted in an inaccurate estimation of the monopile behavior.

Bounds of the rank of the Mordell-Weil group of jacobians of hyperelliptic curves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this article we extend work of Shanks and Washington on cyclic extensions, and elliptic curves associated to the simplest cubic fields. In particular, we give families of examples of hyperelliptic curves $C: y^2=f(x)$ defined over $\mathbb{Q}$, with ...

P-y curves on model piles: Uncertainty identification

open access: yes, 2010
The aim of determining the P-y reaction curves. The instrumented pile allows the bending moment profiles to be obtained. The uncertainty on the moment measurement is first quantified. The displacements are determined from a polynomial function fitted on the moment data and calculated by double-integrating the moment.

Static and cyclic p-y curves for laterally loaded piles in soft clay

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2017
A pseudo-three-dimensional analysis method on static p-y curves of laterally loaded piles in soft clay is conducted. This method is based on the two-dimensional elastic fictitious loading upper bound limit analysis approach considering the stress-strain ...

Explicit L-functions and a Brauer-Siegel theorem for Hessian elliptic curves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
For a finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$ of characteristic $p\geq 5$ and $K=\mathbb{F}_q(t)$, we consider the family of elliptic curves $E_d$ over $K$ given by $y^2+xy - t^dy=x^3$ for all integers $d$ coprime to $q$. We provide an explicit expression for the $L$

Numerical derivation of CPT-based p–y curves for piles in sand [PDF]

open access: yesGéotechnique, 2014
The formulations for the lateral load–displacement (p–y) springs conventionally used for the analysis of laterally loaded piles have been based largely on the back-analysis of the performance of small-scale instrumented piles subjected to lateral load.

Limits of special Weierstrass points

open access: yes, 2007
Let C be the union of two general connected, smooth, nonrational curves X and Y intersecting transversally at a point P. Assume that P is a general point of X or of Y. Our main result, in a simplified way, says: Let Q be a point of X.

Comparative nonlinear analysis of a RC 2D frame soil-pile interaction [PDF]

open access: yesGrađevinski Materijali i Konstrukcije, 2018
Comparative non-linear static (NSA) and non-linear dynamic analyses (NDA) of 2D frames (as parts of skeletal 3D structures) of RC buildings founded on piles are presented in this paper.
