Equipped for success: genomes and metabolomes of the European Amanita muscaria are conserved in its novel South African range

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Plants and soils have been moved around the world for centuries, but invasive mushrooms receive scant attention. The Amanita muscaria species complex was introduced to South Africa in the context of forestry, but its origins, ecology and recent evolution are unstudied. We sequenced the genomes of 24 Northern and Southern Hemisphere A. muscaria,

Lily Transcription Factors LlPLATZ1 and LlMYB4 Orchestrate the Homeostasis of Heat Stress Responses via Antagonistic Regulation of LlHSF24

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Heat stress significantly damages crop yield and quality. PLATZ (PLANT A/T‐RICH SEQUENCE‐AND ZINC‐BINDING PROTEIN) transcription factors play pivotal roles in plant growth, development, and environmental stress responses. While the functions of PLATZ members in response to drought and salt stress are well characterised, their roles in heat ...

Gallic Acid‐Responsive microRNAs Reprogram Lignification During Drought Acclimation Process in Spearmint

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mentha spicata L. (spearmint) is a high‐value aromatic and medicinal species, whose productivity is strongly affected by water deficit. Nevertheless, the molecular mechanisms underlying drought acclimation in this mint remain largely unexplored. Thus, here, we investigated the microRNA‐mediated regulatory processes triggered in M.

Mycorrhizal specificity of fully mycoheterotrophic Yoania in Taiwan and China and novel natural abundance stable isotope patterns

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Three species of the mycoheterotrophic orchid genus Yoania found in Taiwan and China are associated with a single taxonomic unit of white‐rot fungus from the genus Physisporinus and exhibit a stable isotope pattern distinct from other fully mycoheterotrophic (FMH) orchids associated with wood‐decaying fungi.

Interspecific facilitation, elevation, and site influence survival and growth for intertidal Ostrea angasi restoration

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction The flat oyster Ostrea angasi previously formed extensive reefs throughout temperate regions of Australia. These reefs were overharvested and destroyed after European colonization and have been functionally extinct for >150 years. While large‐scale subtidal O.

“Is This Edible Anyway?” The Impact of Culture on the Evolution (and Devolution) of Mushroom Knowledge

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Mushrooms are a ubiquitous and essential component in our biological environment and have been of interest to humans around the globe for millennia. Knowledge about mushrooms represents a prime example of cumulative culture, one of the key processes in human evolution.

The Migratory Behaviour of Juvenile GreenshellTM Mussels (Perna canaliculus)

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Migratory behaviour is a major cause of juvenile mussel (spat) losses, with estimates of 50%–100% in many parts of the world, significantly impacting production efficiency. Reducing spat losses due to their migratory behaviour is essential for improving yields and sustainability, as it can help decrease substantial economic losses, such as the

The Response and Evaluation of Morphology, Physiology, and Biochemistry Traits in Triploid Passiflora edulis Sims ‘Mantianxing’ to Drought Stress

open access: yesPlants
As one of the most influential environmental factors, drought stress greatly impacts the development and production of plants. Triploid-induced Passiflora edulis Sims ‘Mantianxing’ is an important new cultivar for multi-resistance variety selective ...
