Transcriptional regulation of FoxO3 gene by glucocorticoids in murine myotubes. [PDF]
Glucocorticoids and FoxO3 exert similar metabolic effects in skeletal muscle. FoxO3 gene expression was increased by dexamethasone (Dex), a synthetic glucocorticoid, both in vitro and in vivo.

Effect of SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complex on HIV-1 Tat activated transcription
Background Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) is the etiologic agent of acquired immunodeficiency virus (AIDS). Following entry into the host cell, the viral RNA is reverse transcribed into DNA and subsequently integrated into the host genome as

Mechanisms of enhancer‐driven oncogene activation
Abstract An aggressive subtype of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is caused by enhancer hijacking resulting in MECOM overexpression. Several chromosomal rearrangements can lead to this: the most common (inv(3)/t(3;3)) results in a hijacked GATA2 enhancer, and there are several atypical MECOM rearrangements involving enhancers from other hematopoietic ...

The role of mitogen-activated protein kinases and sterol receptor coactivator-1 in TGF-β-regulated expression of genes implicated in macrophage cholesterol uptake [PDF]
The anti-atherogenic cytokine TGF-β inhibits macrophage foam cell formation by suppressing the expression of key genes implicated in the uptake of modified lipoproteins.

Among the extracellular signals that modulate the synthesis of collagen, transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) and interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) are preeminent. These two cytokines exert antagonistic effects on fibroblasts, and play important roles in the physiologic regulation of extracellular matrix turnover.

ETS-targeted therapy: can it substitute for MEK inhibitors?
Background The RAS/MAPK pathway has been intensively studied in cancer. Constitutive activation of ERK1 and ERK2 is frequently found in cancer cells from a variety of tissues.

Enhancer‐dependent gene regulation in space, time, and malignancies
Abstract Control of cell‐type‐specific gene activation requires the coordinated activity of distal regulatory elements, including enhancers, whose inputs must be temporally integrated. Dysregulation of this regulatory capacity, such as aberrant usage of enhancers, can result in malignant transformation of cells.

IntroductionEpigenetic modification plays a critical role in regulating gene expression. To understand how epigenetic modification alters miRNA expression in monocyte-derived dendritic cells (moDCs) in different environments, we analyzed the connections ...
