The p300/CBP family: integrating signals with transcription factors and chromatin
Studies on the mechanisms through which the oncogene products of DNA tumour viruses subvert the physiological processes that control cell proliferation have yielded many important insights into the mammalian cell cycle. In the case of the adenovirus E1a oncoprotein, a number of distinct protein domains are required for it to exert its growth-promoting ...

p300/CBP Acts as a Coactivator of the Cone–Rod Homeobox Transcription Factor
CRX (cone-rod homeobox) is shown to play an important role on the photoreceptor cell maturation and maintenance. However, little is known about the molecular mechanism how CRX potentiates transcription. Here, we investigated the effect of several coactivators (p300/CBP, SRC-1, TIF2, and AIB1) on the transactivation function of CRX.

The structurally related transcriptional coactivators p300 and CBP possess histone acetyltransferase activity and associate with P/CAF, which is also a histone acetyltransferase. CBP and p300 have properties of tumor suppressor proteins; their interaction with P/CAF is disrupted by the adenoviral E1A oncoprotein, and the genes encoding CBP and p300 are
