p600/UBR4 in the central nervous system

Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences, 2014
A decade ago, the large 600 kDa mammalian protein p600 (also known as UBR4) was discovered as a multifunctional protein with roles in anoikis, viral transformation and protein degradation. Recently, p600 has emerged as a critical protein in the mammalian brain with roles in neurogenesis, neuronal migration, neuronal signaling and survival.

An Alternative Perspective on “Semantic P600” Effects in Language Comprehension

Brain Research Reviews, 2008
The literature on the electrophysiology of language comprehension has recently seen a very prominent discussion of "semantic P600" effects, which have been observed, for example, in sentences involving an implausible thematic role assignment to an argument that would be a highly plausible filler for a different thematic role of the same verb.

P600 related to rule violation in an arithmetic task

Cognitive Brain Research, 2004
The goal of the present paper was to study if a similar neurophysiological process is required for treating violations of both arithmetical rules and linguistic syntactic structures. It has been shown that syntactic violations elicit the P600/syntactic positive shift (SPS) component, reflecting secondary parsing processes or repairing of an incorrect ...

The Influence of Mood on the Processing of Syntactic Anomalies: Evidence From P600

open access: yesNeuropsychologia, 2010
In several domains of psychology it has been shown that mood influences the way in which we process information. So far, little is known about the relation between mood and processes of language comprehension. In the present study we explore, whether, and if so how, mood affects the processing of syntactic anomalies in real time by recording event ...

Inter-Participant Variabilities and Sample Sizes in P300 and P600

International Journal of Psychophysiology, 2019
Reliably and efficiently detecting physiological differences between conditions of interest is of importance in psychophysiology. In particular, when it comes to the observation of relatively small differences, such as a P600 effect, a language-related brain potential elicited by ungrammatical sentences compared to grammatical sentences, inter ...

The P600 as an index of syntactic integration difficulty

Language and Cognitive Processes, 2000
The P600 component in Event Related Potential research has been hypothesised to be associated with syntactic reanalysis processes. We, however, propose that the P600 is not restricted to reanalysis processes, but reflects difficulty with syntactic integration processes in general.

The P600 reflects cost of new information in discourse memory

NeuroReport, 2007
Discourse processing depends on long-term semantic memory and discourse memory (i.e. the organization and maintenance of a mental model). Using event-related potentials, the information-processing functions of the activities manifested by a centroparietal negativity (N400) and a posterior positivity (P600) were investigated during the processing of ...

Conflicts in language processing: A new perspective on the N400–P600 distinction

Neuropsychologia, 2011
Conflicts in language processing often correlate with late positive event-related brain potentials (ERPs), particularly when they are induced by inconsistencies between different information types (e.g. syntactic and thematic/plausibility information).

p600 in calcium signalling and neuronal survival

2014
p600 is a large protein that is enriched in the brain and expressed in neurons. Previous work has shown a diversity of functions for p600 in several different organisms and cell types. Following a report that p600 associates with the Ca2+ sensor calmodulin (CaM), we hypothesized that p600 was acting as a Ca2+ signalling protein in hippocampal neurons ...

Functional significance of the semantic P600

NeuroReport, 2016
Previous event-related potentials studies of sentence comprehension have usually associated syntactic repair/reanalysis processes with the P600 component. However, the functional significance of the P600 was recently questioned on the basis of the observation of P600 effects in response to the processing of semantically anomalous sentences.
