Low temperature inhibits photosynthesis and negatively affects plant growth. Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is a chilling-sensitive plant, and its greenhouse production requires considerable energy during the winter. Therefore, a useful stress marker for selecting chilling-tolerant cucumber cultivars is desirable.
