Creep deformation and failure of E911/E911 and P92/P92 similar weld-joints

Engineering Failure Analysis, 2009
Abstract This paper deals with characterisation of microstructure and creep behaviour of similar weld-joints of advanced 9% Cr ferritic steels, namely E911 and P92. The microstructures of the investigated weld-joints exhibit significant variability in different weld-joint regions such as weld metal (WM), heat-affected zone (HAZ), and base metal (BM).

Microstructural evolution of P92 steel in IN740H/P92 dissimilar weld joints during creep deformation

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2021
Abstract In this study, we report the microstructural development of heat-affected zone in P92 heat-resistant steel during creep deformation in cross-weld specimens with dissimilar weld joints between IN740H/P92 materials. Different specimens were prepared via the interruption of creep testing at 50, 70, and 90% of the measured creep-rupture life and

Creep Behaviour of P92 and P92 Welds at 675°C

Volume 6: Materials and Fabrication, Parts A and B, 2012
The results of an accelerated creep test programme on the leading new build high temperature power plant pipework ferritic steel P92 and two P92 welds are presented. Tests were performed at 675°C, which is above the service operating temperature range recommended for P92, but allowed for more realistic operating stresses to be used ...

Effect of post-weld heat treatment on the microstructure and hardness of P92 steel in IN740H/P92 dissimilar weld joints

Materials Characterization, 2020
Abstract The microstructural factors that contribute to hardening mechanisms were investigated to explain the effect of post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) on the hardness of P92 steel in IN740H/P92 dissimilar weld joints. This study presents experimental analysis of the distribution of microstructural factors such as precipitate size, precipitate ...

Creep Crack Growth of P92 Welds

Volume 6: Materials and Fabrication, Parts A and B, 2008
This paper represents creep properties and creep crack growth properties for P92 welds. The CCG tests were carried out using cross-welded compact tension (C (T) specimens at several temperatures. The crack front was located at HAZ region to simulate Type IV crack.

Experimental characterisation and modelling of the creep properties of a P92 steel weldment

Materials at High Temperatures, 2010
AbstractIn order to study the rupture phenomena of welded structures made of P92 steel, a weldment was obtained in a P92 seamless pipe portion. Cylindrical smooth and notched cross-weld specimens (CWS) were cut from the weld and submitted to tensile and creep uniaxial tests at 575°C. The results of these tests are presented and discussed.
