TEMPESTITE DEPOSITS ON A STORM‐INFLUENCED CARBONATE RAMP: AN EXAMPLE FROM THE PABDEH FORMATION (PALEOGENE), ZAGROS BASIN, SW IRAN

Journal of Petroleum Geology, 2004
The Pabdeh Formation is part of a thick carbonate‐siliciclastic succession in the Zagros Basin of SW Iran which includes carbonate reservoirs of Cretaceous and Cenozoic ages. From field observations and petrographic and facies analysis of exposures in the type section of the Pabdeh Formation, four lithofacies were recognized.

Palaeogeographical peculiarities of the Pabdeh Formation (Paleogene) in Iran: New evidence of global diversity-determined geological heritage

Journal of African Earth Sciences, 2017
Abstract Unique palaeogeographical peculiarities of sedimentary formations are important for geological heritage conservation and use for the purposes of tourism. The heritage value of the Pabdeh Formation (Paleocene–Oligocene) of the Zagros Fold-Thrust Belt in Iran has been investigated.

Using Rock Eval Pyrolysis for Studying the Hydrocarbon Potential of the Pabdeh Formation in Ziluee Oilfield, South West of Iran

Petroleum Science and Technology, 2014
The author discusses the hydrocarbon potential of Pabdeh formation in Ziluee oilfield, in southwest Iran. The research was focused on characterization of this formation based on Rock-Eval (RE) pyrolysis, which is an effective instrument for analyzing probable source rock. Various diagrams were employed for interpreting the raw outputs of RE.

Sequence Stratigraphy of Pabdeh Formation in Dezful Embayment (Zagros Basin) SW Iran

GEO 2010, 2010
Pabdeh Formation (upper Eocene-Oligocene) is a carbonate dominated sedimentary package with shale -marl intervals. This Formation was studied the type section (Kuh-E-Gurpi) and four boreholes located in Dezful Embayment (Zagros Basin). The Pabdeh Formation comprises three depositional sequences bounded by Type I sequence boundary in lower part and both

Biostratigraphy of larger foraminifera from the Middle Eocene Jahrum-Pabdeh formations (Zagros region, SW Iran) and their correlation with the planktonic foraminiferal zones

Micropaleontology, 2023
Eocene larger benthic foraminifera including orthophragmines, nummulitids and alveolinids from the Jahrum and Pabdeh formations in the Zagros region are presented. The studied 20-m-thick stratigraphic interval contains, Asterocyclina Gumbel 1870, Nemkovella Less 1987, Orbitoclypeus Silvestri 1907, Discocyclina Gumbel 1870, Nummulites Lamarck 1801 ...

Effect of Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM) on Calcareous Nannofossils in the Pabdeh Formation, Izeh Zone in Zagros Basin

2023
In this study, the sediments of the Pabdeh Formation in the Tange Lendeh section, with a thickness of 58 meters, are composed of purple shales and argillaceous limestones with chert and gray marl layers. A total of 56 calcareous nannofossil species, belonging to 22 genera from 13 families, were recognized in this strata.

Promoting wellbore stability in active shale formations by water-based muds: A case study in Pabdeh shale, Southwestern Iran

Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering, 2018
Abstract Minimizing water invasion into shales is a critical property for many water-based muds. By improving drilling fluids rheology in HPHT conditions, it is possible to minimize water invasion and maintain true overbalance pressure conditions at near wellbore scale which endorses wellbore stability.
