In this paper a complete concept will be shown, to build a cheap, modular internet/intranet-based radiologic information system for hospitals or settled MDs. The goal of this system is to achieve internal/external access to DICOM-data, which are produced and archived in the several image-producing departments. Using the DICOM-standard as well as modern,

Proceedings of the ACM International Conference on Interactive Tabletops and Surfaces, 2009
A novel tabletop entertainment system that allows simultaneous interactions by multiple participants was developed. The newly developed interaction technique of this system recognizes a pinching gesture performed with the thumb and forefinger. This gesture recognition technique enables rapid response and high degree-of-freedom input for the players.

A Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) is a network-based, central server used for the interfacing, image storage, and data acquisition of images produced by the myriad of radiology modalities that exist in hospitals today. PACS were initially developed as recently as the 1980s, and today these systems have the capacity to interface with ...

An elderly woman was admitted for palpitation, light-headedness, and syncope. Telemetry strips revealed numerous episodes of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) as well as premature beats and pauses. Analysis of the effects of spontaneous premature atrial contractions (PACs) on both the sinus discharge rate and on the SVTs revealed strict relationships ...

A 3-year PACS project was started in 1997 and completed in 1999 with filmless radiology and surgery. An efficient network for transferring images provides the infrastructure for integration of different distributed imaging systems and enables efficient handling of all patient-related information on one display station.

Changes in demographic and economic trends, as well as reforms in health care and education, have encouraged speech-language pathologists to expand the service delivery options they offer. Practitioners are searching for service delivery models that promote clients’ functional skills, are cost-effective, and reflect accountability and efficacy.

We developed a new PACS linked to Electronic Patient Record system (EPR). It was a hospital-wide PACS storing all the radiological examinations. The images and reports were linked on EPR. The concept of navigation servers and segment servers was introduced for prefetchig and quick displaying. After the start of operation, increasing retrieval indicated

Expectations and problems related to picture archiving and communication systems handling of ultrasound images are discussed. Sonography has peculiarities that must be considered when its integration with picture archiving and communication systems is planned, namely: (1) data volume is about 3 Mb per ultrasound examination and is usually lower than ...

Advances in information technologies in the past decades expanded the medical information systems outside the boundaries of healthcare institutions. Currently, sharing of medical data among medical institutions for collaborative, research, training, and diagnostic purposes is a challenging topic in medicine and computer sciences.
