Pacific salmon: status of stocks and prospects for the fishery

open access: yesИзвестия ТИНРО, 2022
Dynamics of the pacific salmon landing is reviewed. Mean registered domestic catch of these species was about 175,000 t per year in 1925–2021, but taking into account other estimations, as the volume of Japanese fishery, at least 250 .

Salmon lice in the Pacific Ocean show evidence of evolved resistance to parasiticide treatment

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Parasitic salmon lice (Lepeophtheirus salmonis) threaten the economic and ecological sustainability of salmon farming, and their evolved resistance to treatment with emamectin benzoate (EMB) has been a major problem for salmon farming in the Atlantic ...

Migratory hosts can maintain the high‐dose/refuge effect in a structured host‐parasite system: The case of sea lice and salmon

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications, 2020
Migration can reduce parasite burdens in migratory hosts, but it connects populations and can drive disease dynamics in domestic species. Farmed salmon are infested by sea louse parasites, often carried by migratory wild salmonids, resulting in a costly ...

Characteristics of feeding migrations of hatchery juveniles of pacific salmon in the basin of Okhotsk Sea and adjacent Pacific waters in the autumn-winter period (regional identification, abundance and distribution of catches, bio-logical indices, estimates of mortality)

open access: yesИзвестия ТИНРО, 2023
Long-term data on feeding migrations of hatchery pacific salmon (pink and chum salmon) in the Okhotsk Sea and adjacent Pacific waters in the autumn-winter of 2011–2021 are generalized. The study is based on materials (otolith samples, biological indices)

The Pacific Salmon [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1879
THE reviewer of the U.S. Fisheries' Commission Report, 1875–6, in NATURE, vol. xix. p. 429, pointedly refers with doubt to a statement that “so far as yet observed the adult fish of the Pacific salmon (Salmo quinnat) all die after spawning” quoted from a memorandum which I wrote on the subject for the information of the New Zealand Government.
