Packet loss reduction during rerouting
When a network failure is detected by an IP router, its routing table is updated for all affected routing entries. The packet loss resulting from this event depends on the network traffic associated with the updated routing table entries.

Federated Learning with Packet Losses
This paper tackles the problem of training Federated Learning (FL) algorithms over real-world wireless networks with packet losses. Lossy communication channels between the orchestrating server and the clients affect the convergence of FL training as well as the quality of the learned model. Although many previous works investigated how to mitigate the

Handling packet loss in WebRTC [PDF]
WebRTC is an open-source real-time interactive audio and video communication framework. This paper discusses some of the mechanisms utilized in WebRTC to handle packet losses in the video communication path. Various system details are discussed and an adaptive hybrid NACK/FEC method with temporal layers is presented.

On the effects of the packet size distribution on the packet loss process [PDF]
Real-time multimedia applications have to use forward error correction (FEC) anderror concealment techniques to cope with losses in today's best-effort Internet. The efficiency of these solutions is known however to depend on the correlation between losses in the media stream.

On Kalman Smoothing With Random Packet Loss [PDF]
This correspondence studies the performance of Kalman fixed lag smoothers with random packet losses and its comparison with the Kalman filter with packet loss. In terms of estimator stability via boundedness of the expectation of the error covariance, we show that smoothing does not provide any benefit over filtering.

On the Influence of AQM on Serialization of Packet Losses
We study the influence of the active queue management mechanism based on the queue size on the serialization of packet losses, i.e., the occurrences of losses in long, consecutive series. We use a traffic model able to mimic precisely the autocorrelation function of traffic, which is known to be far from zero in packet networks.

Calculation of the Packet Loss in Optical Packet Switches: An Analytic Technique [PDF]
Abstract In this paper, we investigate the performance of optical packet switches. Optical packet switches are operated entirely in the optical domain (except for the header extraction). The optical buffering is realised by using fiber delay lines (FDL's). We analyse, using generating functions, an optical buffering structure, consisting of FDL's with

Frame delay and loss analysis for video transmission over time-correlated 802.11A/G channels [PDF]
This paper presents simulation results for the transmission of unicast MAC frames over 802.11a/g. Fading channel models at various Doppler frequencies are developed to generate time- correlated SNR waveforms.
