Fast simulation of packet loss rates in a shared buffer communications switch [PDF]

open access: yesACM Transactions on Modeling and Computer Simulation, 1995
This article describes an efficient technique for estimating, via simulation, the probability of buffer overflows in a queueing model that arises in the analysis of ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) communication switches. There are multiple streams of (autocorrelated) traffic feeding the switch that has a buffer of finite capacity.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Packet Loss Rate Differentiation in slotted Optical Packet Switching OCDM/WDM

open access: yesTELKOMNIKA (Telecommunication Computing Electronics and Control), 2017
We propose a multi-class mechanism for Optical Code Division Multiplexing (OCDM), Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) Optical Packet Switch (OPS) architecture capable of supporting Quality of Service (QoS) transmission. OCDM/WDM has been proposed as a competitive hybrid switching technology to support the next generation optical Internet. This paper

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Performance analysis of the network communication based on AMR speech coding by using NS

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2006
Most of the VoIP systems were based on the speech codec with a fixed rate, which maked packet-loss serious, especially for continuous packet-loss.The degradation for the speech quality would be caused by the kind of packet-loss.A network communication ...

ANALYTICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF WLANS FOR QUALITY-OF-SERVICE WITH ACTIVE QUEUE MANAGEMENT [PDF]

open access: yesICTACT Journal on Communication Technology, 2014
Design of an Active Queue Management scheme at the Access Point to address the problem of congestion control, packet delay variation and packet loss rate is discussed. The proposed mechanism calculates and adjusts redundancy rate adaptively at the access

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...
