Packet equalisation in PONs using adjustable gain-clamped semiconductor optical amplifiers (AGC-SOA) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The past ten years have witnessed a dramatic growth in the delivery of high bandwidth services through Passive Optical Networks (PONs), directly to the home or to the kerb.

Image fusion in the JPEG 2000 domain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper presents a novel approach to image fusion in the JPEG 2000 domain. In this scheme, compressed images are fused without the need for full decompression. The proposed method can be integrated with the existing JPEG 2000 tools.

Loss Clustering at MSP Buffer

open access: yesJournal of Sensor and Actuator Networks
Packet losses cause a decline in the performance of packet networks, and this decline is related not only to the percentage of losses but also to the clustering of them together in series.

RED behavior with different packet sizes

open access: yes, 2000
We consider the adaptation of random early detection (RED) as a buffer management algorithm for TCP traffic in Internet gateways where different maximum transfer units (MTUs) are used.

Improved Proactive Routing Protocol Considering Node Density Using Game Theory in Dense Networks

open access: yesFuture Internet, 2020
In mobile ad hoc networks, network nodes cooperate by packet forwarding from the source to the destination. As the networks become denser, more control packets are forwarded, thus consuming more bandwidth and may cause packet loss.

Enhancing TCP End-to-End Performance in Millimeter-Wave Communications

open access: yes, 2017
Recently, millimeter-wave (mmWave) communications have received great attention due to the availability of large spectrum resources. Nevertheless, their impact on TCP performance has been overlooked, which is observed that the said TCP performance ...

A multi-exit recirculating optical packet buffer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We propose a new type of recirculating buffer, the multiexit buffer (MEB), for use in asynchronous optical packet switches with statistical multiplexing, operating at speeds of 40-100 Gb/s.

Developmental Disorders in Children Recently Diagnosed With Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neurocognitive deficits in adult survivors of childhood cancer are well established, but less is known about developmental disorders (DD) arising shortly after cancer diagnosis. Using 2016–2019 linked Ohio cancer registry and Medicaid data, we compared DD among 324 children with cancer and 606,913 cancer‐free controls.

Analytical Models of the Performance of C-V2X Mode 4 Vehicular Communications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The C-V2X or LTE-V standard has been designed to support V2X (Vehicle to Everything) communications. The standard is an evolution of LTE, and it has been published by the 3GPP in Release 14.

Performance of peak signal‐to‐noise ratio quality assessment in video streaming with packet losses

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2016
The effect of packet losses over error‐prone networks on visual quality of distributed video contents, estimated through subjective opinion and PSNR as an objective measure is analysed. It is shown that, within a fixed content, the variation of PSNR is a reliable indicator of the variation of packet loss rates.
