Quasiperiodic packing densities
Physical Review B, 1988The problem of the packing density on quasiperiodic lattices is discussed in a systematic way using projection techniques. For compact domains a direct construction is presented using a Voronoi construction on a quasilattice in perpendicular space defined by the forbidden volume of the packed objects.

On the density of homogeneous sphere packings
Acta Crystallographica Section A Foundations of Crystallography, 2005For some types of sphere packing with typical one- and two-dimensional parameter regions, the sphere-packing density as a function of the free parameters is discussed. In addition, some sphere-packing types with extraordinary density properties are presented.

Packing Density of Compact Yarns
Textile Research Journal, 2007In this work, fiber distribution through the cross-sections of compact yarns and their packing density values was investigated to provide a better understanding of the internal structures of compact yarns produced by different compact spinning systems, since there is no information available so far regarding their internal structure.

Packing density of slurry‐packed capillaries at low aspect ratios
Journal of Separation Science, 2008AbstractThe average interparticle voidage or porosity (εinter) in cylindrical capillaries is studied in dependence on the column diameter (dc) to particle diameter (dp) ratio for 5 < dc/dp < 50. Using optimized slurry and packing solvents, high pressure and ultrasonication, 5 μm‐sized porous C18‐silica particles were slurry‐packed into fused ...

DEM study on the packing density and randomness for packing of ellipsoids
Powder Technology, 2020Abstract This paper presents a numerical study on the packing density and bed orderness in packing and vibration of ellipsoids by discrete element method (DEM). The shapes considered are oblate and prolate spheroids, with aspect ratio varying from 0.15 to 4.0. It is shown that under the poured packing conditions of coarse ellipsoids, flat or elongate

Packing Density in Holographic Systems
Applied Optics, 1975The holographic packing density is derived for any plane in a coherently illuminated optical system. The gain in packing density relative to the object plane is given. A two-lens optical system in which a condenser lens provides high packing densities and an imaging lens provides sufficient resolution is superior to a system in which a single lens ...

On the density of finite packings
Acta Mathematica Hungarica, 1985Let \({\mathcal C}^ d\) denote the set of compact convex sets in the Euclidean d-space \(E^ d\). Let V(K) be the volume of any \(K\in {\mathcal C}^ d\). Further let \({\mathcal C}^ d_ k\) denote the set of \(K\in {\mathcal C}^ d\) which contains k translates \(B^ d_ 1,...,B^ d_ k\) of \(B^ d\) with \(B^ d_ i\cap B^ d_ j=\emptyset\) for \(i\neq j ...

Evaluation of the Effect of Pack Shape on Parachute Packing Density
AIAA Aerodynamic Decelerator Systems (ADS) Conference, 2013The optimum shape of a parachute pack where high pack density is required with no packing-induced damage incurred has long been held to be a right circular cylinder. The pack density possible for any other pack shape is typically lower due to the volume in corners that cannot be packed to the same density.
