A φ-Contractivity and Associated Fractal Dimensions

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
In this paper, we extend the concept of dimension of sets to some general frameworks relative to a gauge function φ, where two simultaneous dimensions are introduced.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

MEASURING THE DEGREE OF OLIGOPSONY POWER IN THE BEEF PACKING INDUSTRY IN THE ABSENCE OF MARKETING INPUT QUANTITY DATA

open access: yes
We develop a model to measure the degree of oligopsony power in the beef packing industry, while accommodating variable proportions technology, that can be estimated with fewer data requirements.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

On packing measures and a theorem of Besicovitch

open access: yes, 2020
Besicovitch showed that if a set is null for the Hausdorff measure associated to a given dimension function, then it is still null for the Hausdorff measure corresponding to a smaller dimension function.

Measuring the Impact of Meat Packing and Processing Facilities in the Nonmetropolitan Midwest: A Difference-In-Differences Approach [PDF]

open access: yes
We measure how local growth in meatpacking and processing affects growth in local economies, government expenditures, and crime rates from 1990-2000 in nonmetropolitan counties of 12 Midwestern States.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

A MODEL OF IMPERFECT COMPETITION USING MARGINAL INPUT AND OUTPUT PRICES: APPLICATION TO THE BEEF PACKING INDUSTRY

open access: yes
Based on Diewert's idea that models under competition can be generalized to imperfect competition using marginal prices, we develop a test for imperfect competition in the beef packing industry. Our model is more general and flexible than those depending

The Packing Measure of the Range of Super-Brownian Motion

open access: yes, 2008
We prove that the total range of Super-Brownian motion with quadratic branching mechanism has an exact packing measure with respect to the gauge function $g(r)=r^4 (\log \log1/r)^{-3}$ in super-critical dimensions $d\geq 5$. More precisely, we prove that

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.
