New Prediction-Augmented Classical Least-Squares (PACLS) Methods: Application to Unmodeled Interferents [PDF]

open access: greenApplied Spectroscopy, 2000
A significant improvement to the classical least-squares (CLS) multivariate analysis method has been developed. The new method, called prediction-augmented classical least-squares (PACLS), removes the restriction for CLS that all interfering spectral species must be known and their concentrations included during the calibration.

Pilot Study on Nucleation-Induced Pelleting Coagulation in Treatment of High-Algae Surface Water: Coagulant Dosage and Hydraulic Loading Optimization [PDF]

open access: yesToxics
This study proposes a circulating pelletized fluidized bed (CPFB) with micro-sand loading for treating high-algae surface water. Key operational parameters (coagulant dosage, flow rate) were optimized to simultaneously remove algae, turbidity, and ...

Exploration of a Novel Catalytic Approach for Synthesizing Glycolide and ε-Caprolactone Copolymers and Their Application as Carriers for Paclitaxel [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules
Biodegradable polyesters serve as matrices in pharmaceutical applications for the controlled release of therapeutic agents. These polymers are essential in the advancement of drug delivery systems (DDSs) that facilitate the gradual drug release over a ...

Regulating wide-bandgap perovskite face-on stacking in hybrid-deposited perovskite/organic tandem solar cells [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications
Vacuum-assisted hybrid deposition for wide-bandgap (WBG) perovskites has been widely recognized for its advantages, including convenience for scaling up and conformal growth, while avoiding toxic solvents. However, the growth of WBG perovskites (>1.8 eV),

PacL-organized membrane-associated effluxosomes coordinate multi-metal resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis [PDF]

open access: gold
AbstractMetal ion homeostasis is crucial for bacterial pathogens to withstand metal-induced stress during infection. However, the mechanisms underlying bacterial resistance to metal stress remain incompletely understood, particularly how bacteria coordinate responses to simultaneous exposure to multiple metals.

Polycystins recruit cargo to distinct ciliary extracellular vesicle subtypes in C. elegans [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications
Therapeutic use of tiny extracellular vesicles (EVs) requires understanding cargo loading mechanisms. Here, we use a modular proximity labeling approach to identify the cargo of ciliary EVs associated with the transient receptor potential channel ...

The effect of weight-bearing status on kinematics and cruciate ligament force in normal knees [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
Evaluating WB status during normal knee flexion activities is important for optimizing surgical procedures and postoperative rehabilitation. This study aimed to clarify the effects of weight-bearing (WB) on in vivo knee kinematics and cruciate ligament ...

Removal of Humic Substances by Repeated Mixing with PACl

open access: closedWater Practice and Technology, 2009
Focusing on the improvement of removal efficiency of humic substances by coagulation, coagulation-flocculation processes were applied not only once but more than twice to the water being treated, and the effect of repeated coagulation was evaluated in jar-tests.

Growth of Floc Structure and Subsequence Compaction into Smaller Granules through Breakup and Rearrangement of Aluminum Flocs in a Constant Laminar Shear Flow [PDF]

open access: yesGels
We have constructed an outer-cylinder-rotating Couette device for high-speed shear flow in laminar flow conditions and visualized the structure formation and subsequent rearrangement of PACl (flocculant made of aluminum hydroxide gel) and kaolinite flocs
