Antifungal Activity of Bioactive Compounds Produced by the Endophytic Fungus Paecilomyces sp. (JN227071.1) against Rhizoctonia solani

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biomaterials, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Biologically active natural compounds are molecules produced by plants or plant‐related microbes, such as endophytes. Many of these metabolites have a wide range of antimicrobial activities and other pharmaceutical properties. This study aimed to evaluate (in vitro) the antifungal activities of the secondary metabolites obtained from Paecilomyces sp ...

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Agriculture and Its Role in Maintaining Ecological Balance and Biodiversity

open access: yesAdvances in Agriculture, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
The production of sustainable crops and environmental management in farming face several significant potential obstacles, including climate change, resource depletion and environmental degradation. Weeds and insect pests that considerably reduce yields have put crop production systems in danger.

Influence of egg parasitic fungus, Engyodontium aranearum against root knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The indigenous egg parasitic fungal isolates, Engyodontium aranearum was evaluated for its nematicidal potential against root knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita. The study revealed 53.75 per cent egg parasitization by the fungal isolate.

Isolation of nematophagous fungi from soil samples collected from three different agro-ecologies of Ethiopia

open access: yesBMC Microbiology, 2022
Background Several species of nematophagous fungi exist in nature that can capture and kill nematodes as natural predators of soil-dwelling worms. These are important in agriculture and animal husbandry as biological control agents.

Diversity, prevalence and virulence of fungal entomopathogens in colonies of the ant Formica selysi [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The richness of the parasitic community associated with social insect colonies has rarely been investigated. Moreover, understanding how hosts and pathogens interact in nature is important to interpret results from laboratory experiments.

DNA markers for differentiating isolates of Paecilomyces lilacinus [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiology, 1995
Paecilomyces lilacinus is an agent for the potential biological control of soil nematodes. Arbitrarily primed PCR was used to fingerprint the genomes of 28 isolates of this fungus. Most (72%) of the isolates originated from soil of different regions of Brazil.

New insights into the evolution of subtilisin-like serine protease genes in Pezizomycotina [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background Subtilisin-like serine proteases play an important role in pathogenic fungi during the penetration and colonization of their hosts. In this study, we perform an evolutionary analysis of the subtilisin-like serine protease genes of subphylum ...
