REPRODUCTIVE PROFICIENCY IN PAEONIA CALIFORNICA (PAEONIACEAE)
American Journal of Botany, 1976Study of three populations of geophytic Paeonia californica in southern California revealed considerable variation, within and between populations, in both potential and in realized seed output. Plants are weakly self‐compatible, but natural seed set (x = 4.2 seeds per carpel) is closer to seed set produced in hand cross‐pollinations (x = 4.5) than in ...

2021The species diversity within the genus Paeonia (Paeoniaceae) in the flora of Ukraine was studied inc luding native and cultivated species. There are two species in the native flora (Paeonia daurica Andrews, P. tenuifolia L.) and seven cultivated species (P. anomala L., P. caucasica (Schipcz.) Structure and Ontogeny of Stomata in Ranunculaceae and Paeoniaceae
Flora, 1980Summary The aspect of mature epidermis and stomatal structure and ontogeny are studied in 13 genera and 52 species of the Ranunculaceae and in 1 genus and 6 species of the Paeoniaceae. In the Ranunculaceae leaves are hypostomatic or amphistomatic and with anomocytic stomata and stoma with a single subsidiary cell.

Microsatellite markers for the Chinese herbaceous peony Paeonia lactiflora (Paeoniaceae)
American Journal of Botany, 2011• Premise of the study: Microsatellite (simple sequence repeat, SSR) primers were developed for the Chinese peony, P. lactiflora, to investigate the diversity within Chinese peony germplasm resources.• Methods and Results: Using an SSR‐enriched genomic library, a set of 10 unique polymorphic genomic SSRs was developed and characterized.

Results of investigations of male gametophytes formation in Paeonia tenuifolia under natural growth conditions are discussed in the article. Embryological characters typical for P. tenuifolia and distinguishing it from other species of the genus Paeonia L. are identified. The normal process of pollen formation and its deviations are described.
