Synthesis and evaluation of acetylferulic paeonol ester and ferulic paeonol ester as potential antioxidants to inhibit fish oil oxidation

Food Chemistry, 2021
Acetylferulic paeonol ester (APE) and ferulic paeonol ester (FPE) were synthesized, and their structures were confirmed by NMR, mass spectra, IR and UV-vis data. The antioxidant properties of the synthesized compounds were evaluated using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and [(2-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzthiazoline)-6 -sulfonic acid] (ABTS) assay as ...

Crystal and molecular structure of two new Schiff bases: Paeonol-ethylenediamine and paeonol-1,3-propylenediamine

Journal of Structural Chemistry, 2007
Two new Schiff bases were prepared by the condensation reaction of paeonol with ethylenediamine (for compound 1) and 1,3-propylenediamine (for compound 2). The compounds were studied with single crystal X-ray diffraction method. Compound 1 is monoclinic, space group P21/c, a = 10.956(15) A, b = 6.767(10) A, c = 12.494(18) A; β = 104.66(2)°, V = 896(2 ...

Pharmacokinetics of Paeonol after Intravenous Administration in Rats

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1994
A simple high-performance liquid chromatography methodology was developed to study the pharmacokinetics of paeonol in the rat after intravenous (iv) bolus administration of various doses (2.5, 5, or 10 mg/kg). The pharmacokinetics of paeonol in rat plasma at each dose were well described by a two-compartment model.

Paeonol pharmacokinetics in the rat following i.m. administration

European Journal of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, 2008
The pharmacokinetic behavior and bioavailability of paeonol were determined after a single intramuscular (i.m.) injection of 10 mg/kg to rats. Plasma paeonol concentrations were measured by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The main pharmacokinetic parameters were as follows: mean elimination half-life (t(1/2z)) 59.85 +/- 10.23 min, time ...

Paeonol induces apoptosis in human ovarian cancer cells

Acta Histochemica, 2013
Paeonol is a broad-spectrum antitumor agent, which is widely used in the treatment of various tumors in Asia. However, the effect of paeonol on ovarian cancer remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of paeonol on ovarian cancer cells and its possible mechanism.

The interaction of paeonol with DPPC liposomes

Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2017
Differential scanning calorimetry and synchrotron X-ray diffraction techniques have been employed to investigate the interaction of paeonol with DPPC liposomes and to investigate the location of paeonol molecules in liposomes. The results showed that the location of the paeonol molecules in liposomes is concentration dependent.

Anticonvulsant and Neuroprotective Effects of Paeonol in Epileptic Rats

Neurochemical Research, 2019
Paeonol is the main active compound in the root bark extract of the peony tree, and it has antioxidative and anti-inflammatory effects. Recent studies have reported the neuroprotective effects of paeonol including its capacity in improving impaired memory. However, the effect of paeonol on epilepsy is yet to be demystified.

[Studies on absorption kinetics of paeonol and paeonol-beta-CD in rat's intestines].

Zhongguo Zhong yao za zhi = Zhongguo zhongyao zazhi = China journal of Chinese materia medica, 2009
To explore the absorption mechanism of paeonol-beta-CD from various intestinal segments and offer biopharmaceutics data for paeonol new dosage form. The absorption kinetics and permeability rate consatants were investigated by the in situ perfusing method in rats.

Paeonol Suppresses Neuroinflammatory Responses in LPS-Activated Microglia Cells

Inflammation, 2016
In this work, we assessed the anti-inflammatory effects of paeonol (PAE) in LPS-activated N9 microglia cells, as well as its underlying molecular mechanisms. PAE had no adverse effect on the viability of murine microglia N9 cell line within a broad range (0.12∼75 μM).
