Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Numerical analysis of a coupled pair of Cahn-Hilliard equations [PDF]
A mathematical analysis has been carried out for a coupled pair of Cahn-Hilliard equations, which appear in modelling a phase separation on a thin film of binary liquid mixture coating substrate, which is wet by one component.

Methods of forming threshold value of risk’sin financial sector index
Problems of choosing justified value of equity ratio characterizing by admissible risk of financial sector in concerned enterprise are studied. As methods of modeling this value the approximation of relation in pair «cost of loan capital - equity ratio ...

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

UV contributions to energy of a static quark-antiquark pair in large-β0 approximation
The total energy of a static quark-antiquark pair Etot(r)=2mpole+VQCD(r) is known to include O(ΛQCD3r2) and O(ΛQCD3/m‾2) renormalon uncertainties in the large-β0 approximation, after canceling O(ΛQCD) renormalons. We compute the (renormalon-free) genuine

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Approximation algorithms for rectangle stabbing and interval stabbing problems. [PDF]
Inthe weighted rectangle stabbing problem we are given a grid in R2 consisting of columns and rows each having a positive integral weight, and a set of closed axis-parallel rectangles each having a positive integral demand.

The phase transition lines in pair approximation for the basic reinfection model SIRI
For a spatial stochastic epidemic model we investigate in the pair approximation scheme the differential equations for the moments. The basic reinfection model of susceptible-infected-recovered-reinfected or SIRI type is analysed, its phase transition ...
