ABSTRACT Central Australia's ngarrawa, or ‘mound springs’, are unique hydrological systems that serve as some of the only near‐permanent sources of water and continuous sediment deposition in Australia's arid interior. As such, they hold significant potential as palaeo‐climate and ‐environmental archives in a region where many aspects of past climate ...

Bølling‐Allerød Productivity in the Subarctic Pacific Driven by Seasonal Upwelling
The Bølling‐Allerød deglacial event is marked by high diatom productivity and opal deposition throughout the subarctic Pacific. This opal could either constitute a strengthened biological pump and thus carbon sequestration, or a weakened biological pump ...

ABSTRACT Volcanic ash (tephra) provides an important chronostratigraphic framework for correlating Quaternary records. In ultra‐distal ( > $\gt $1500 km) settings such as ice cores and marine sediments, deposits are typically preserved as cryptotephra composed of glass shards ≤ 20 μ $\le 20\,\mu

Planktonic foraminifera are instrumental in reconstructing paleoceanographic and paleoclimatic conditions. However, preferential dissolution can significantly bias both assemblages and chemical analyses, leading to biased interpretations.

Mercury cycling during the last glacial period in Arctic Lake El'gygytgyn, NE Russia
ABSTRACT Tectonic processes play a key role in the global mercury (Hg) cycle on geological timescales, by mobilising Hg from deep Earth reservoirs to the surface. These natural fluxes also introduce a dynamic component to the terrestrial Hg cycle that can interact with other environmental signals and influence Hg delivery to sedimentary records.

ABSTRACT The Fiorano quarry paleosol developed within the Colli Albani volcanic district (Italy) in the time interval bracketed by the deposition of the Pozzolanelle pyroclastic‐flow unit (365 ± 4 ka) and the emplacement of the Capo di Bove lava flow (277 ± 2 ka).
