ABSTRACT Submarine caves are cryptic, climatically sensitive habitats with long‐term ecological dynamics that are poorly understood. We present the first palaeoecological analysis of bryozoans from Daidokutsu Cave (Okinawa, Japan), based on a sediment core spanning approximately the last 7000 years.

Late Quaternary lake filling and drying in northern Australia's largest freshwater lake
ABSTRACT Lake Woods, Jurrkulu, is northern Australia's largest freshwater lake filled today in strong Indo–Australian summer monsoons (IASM) to maximum depths of ~5 m. On the western margins of the lake, two large arcuate ridges occur 20 to 40 m above the lake floor and inset within these are other mid‐elevation lake deposits, such as depositional ...

ABSTRACT Glacial/interglacial climate cycles since marine isotope stage (MIS) 12 influenced the discontinuous and 73 m‐long sediment record from the volcanic crater of Rodderberg in the East Eifel Volcanic Field, Germany. High‐resolution grain size and geochemical data have been valued by numerical dating techniques (radiocarbon and luminescence dating,

Atmosphere-ocean interactions are particularly strong along the Chile-Peru coast and largely account for the extreme aridity of the Atacama Desert. Near the center of the driest part of this coastal desert, we found that the embayment Bahía Mejillones ...

Abstract Statistical analysis is a cornerstone of scientific research, yet young researchers in aquatic sciences often struggle when analyses begin without a clearly defined research question or a solid understanding of the data structure. This disconnect between data collection and analytical decision‐making recurrently drives unreliable findings ...

Phosphorites and Paleoceanography
Phosphorite genesis correlates in a general way with elevated sea level and warm climate and is therefore influenced by plate tectonics and continental drift. Phosphorite genesis correlates more specifically with transgression -- a result of the interaction of continental hypsometry, tectonic perturbation and eustatic effects -- whereby a small number ...

Fossil fish teeth are important carriers of rare earth elements (REEs) in deep-sea sediments. Meanwhile, 87Sr/86Sr-143Nd/144Nd in these fossils have been widely used in paleoceanography.
