ABSTRACT Understanding insect responses to global climate change involves identifying strategies used during past climate oscillations. Phylogeography offers a powerful framework to unravel how historical climatic and geological events have shaped the spatial genetic patterns of species, providing critical insights into evolutionary processes, whereas ...

Testing the detectability of spatio–temporal climate transitions from paleoclimate networks with the START model [PDF]
A critical challenge in paleoclimate data analysis is the fact that the proxy data are heterogeneously distributed in space, which affects statistical methods that rely on spatial embedding of data.

Carbonate cave deposits (speleothems) have been used widely for paleoclimate reconstructions; however, few studies have examined the utility of other speleothem-forming minerals for this purpose.

Reconstructing the Last 71 ka Paleoclimate in Northeast China by Integrating Typical Loess Sections
Long-term continuous deposits and well-preserved thick loess sections are natural archives for the reconstruction of global climate change. However, the loess sections are often discontinuous owing to soil erosions and accumulations.

Set-up of the PMIP3 paleoclimate experiments conducted using an Earth system model, MIROC-ESM [PDF]
Paleoclimate experiments using contemporary climate models are an effective measure to evaluate climate models. In recent years, Earth system models (ESMs) were developed to investigate carbon cycle climate feedbacks, as well as to project the future ...

Gully erosion in India: Geo‐environmental controls and region‐specific characteristics
Spatial statistical analyses using a novel spatial database of India‧s gully erosion landforms revealed that India has six major gullying‐affected regions, three of which (EU, DU, and KCH) are dominated by gully systems (gully networks), with badlands (vast intensely gullied landscapes) being predominant in the other three regions (YB, GP, and RU ...

Fluorination of Silver Phosphate in Nickel Reaction Vessels for Triple Oxygen Isotope Analysis
ABSTRACT Rationale Increasingly, more laboratories are measuring the triple oxygen isotope values of phosphate. Standardization is key to having good interlaboratory results. Here, we present the triple oxygen isotope values of a suite of standards using fluorination and compare them with previously reported triple oxygen isotope values. Methods Silver

During the Late Permian, the rise of the Gondwanides Belt trapped marine waters, giving birth to a vast megalake. This lake shifted between overfilled, balanced‐fill and underfilled stages that are recorded by high‐frequency accommodation changes, while meteorological seiches shaped the sedimentary dynamic and produced heterolithic beds.

Temperature extremes across elevation gradients: evidence from two German mountain observatories
Mountain regions are warming rapidly, yet long records across elevation are rare. This study presents the first comprehensive assessment of temperature extremes across an elevation gradient in the Bavarian Alps at two long-term observatories ...
