The Mediterranean region is expected to experience more extreme rainfall events due to climate change. These extreme weather events, together with the ever-increasing human occupation, could lead to an increase in the risk of flash floods. This situation could be worrying, as wildfires may occur during hotter and drier summers, which might increase the

Rambla de la Viuda (drainage area of 1500 km2 ) is a Mediterranean ephemeral river with a hydrological regime characterised by large floods. The region has a long history of anthropogenic land-use changes, which contributed to temporal phases of increased rates of sediment yield and changes in flood hydrology.

Glacial margins mapped in Slippery Rock Creek basin during the 1950s are problematic. The number of sedimentological, mineralogical, petrological, and textural analyses used to distinguish glacial drifts in the southern portion of the basin were inadequate to resolve the margins.

Challenges in paleoflood hydrology applied to risk analysis in mountainous watersheds A review
2014In many regions of the world flood events in mountain basins are one of the greatest risks to the local population, due to the pressure placed on land use by social and economic development. Conventional hydrologic hydraulic methodological approaches are not usually feasible in mountainous basins because they are not gauged at all or, in the best-case ...
